Default Woolworths Big Red Book!

Dont know if you've seen the catalogue but plastered all over it is

"Free delivery to collect from store"

So you can have most items delivered to your local store and collect from there to avoid paying £5 delivery all well and good.

Now some items have a home delivery only thing next to them in the book, fair enough heavy bulky items etc we wanted to order a potty for a our son which was £12.99 so dult went to the local store they put it through the till and it was only when they started going on about delviery we twigged they want to charge £5 delivery for a £12 item - would you pay that?

So we queried it and they said oh that isnt available for collection from store (despite not having anything about that in the book) it then took FORTY FIVE Minutes to get the order cancelled during which time we had to wait in the store with a hungry upset 11 month old!!

I have emailed Woolworths and they dont want to know trotted out some crap about you can check online if the item is in stock etc, which having checked you cant its a pack of lies. I have checked 10 items at random and was not offered free delivery to my local store on ANY of them.

To cap it all off you need to create an account to do much on there and part of the creation process is it is compulsory to give them your card details to hold on file permanently - Unbelievable

Anyone think Trading Standards would be interested in this delivery farce?

Also whats the point in having a catalogue if you have to check everything online before going to the store and ordering

i used to work for Big W (woolworths) this instore ordering was a new thing when i worked for them last year so im not sure how things have changed.
back then certain items were only available direct from the manufacturer hence you were unable to have it delivered to the store and collect from there.
certain items, usually woolworths own brand ie ladybird and chad valley, were delivered on the normal store delivery wagons, hence the free delivery.....they were going to make the journey from whatever distibution centre to the store anyways so no extra costs incurred.
as for the checking availability before you goto the store to order it im not sure, we used to have instore order points where either yourself or a colleague could type in the product code and the item details would be brought up straight away detailing availability, delivery date etc. if an item was out of stock it usually gave you an expected date when they were expecting new stock to the warehouse.
i have to admit the waiting 45 mins to have the order cancelled sounds excessive to say the least considering we had to tell the customer the item price, delivery price (if any), delivery date and final costing before you could confirm the delivery thru the tills.
and they wonder why woolworths is doing so bad.

I tried ordering a sit-in police car for my little boy before Christmas last year from the "Red Book". It took absolutely ages and the order was never processed. None of the codes would bring it up on the screeen.

I went elsewhere too!!!
