Default Who do i contact ?

Many many years ago when i was serving in the armed forces, i had a NAAFI card, this was run by a company called WARRIOR.

Now, years down the line, i am still paying off that debt but it has passed from company to company to the point where i have totally lost track of everything.

My question is:

Who do i send the Data Protection Act letter too, in order to find out how many charges have been applied to this account ?

If the debt has been sold on from one company to another company, do i have to contact the original company to persue this ? Its all very confusing.

Many thanks Lueeze, i remember that name now, but what happens if your debt is sold onto another comapany ? Who is then responsible for paying back charges ?

Regards

write to the company for the Data Protection Act reequest (they have to hold your details for 6 years by law even if the company was bought out)

write to the debt collectors, advising that this debt is from unlawful charges and it therefore in dispute.

The company have to repay it, however it is not unheard of that if the debt collectors OWN the debt, then you could get the refund from the company, then offer a % to pay off the debt with the agency, therefore actually saving yourself money!

Hope this makes sense!

Lou

P.S. You owe me 1. I was looking for the information for a good hour LOL!
