Right....
Basic story so far... (I only just found out about this!)
My other half bought some golf clubs on a buy now pay next year deal then forgot to pay it off in January 2006 (would have been £199) - they started charging the £10 DD's he'd agreed to when taking out the loan (on the day before payday so they all bounced.)

Then he got a letter (June 2006) saying he owed them £595 !

Needless to say I was a little bit cross..... so he's trying to sort it out

First step - send them a Subject Access Request letter and find out what on earth all the extras made up of (I am assuming interest from the 1st year then charges for the bounced DD from Jan - June this year) then claim something back.

I have added this loan to our DMP too.

Sounds about right.

Could you let me know which address you have for them? I'm having some difficulties pinpointing where to address my lawsuit, as I've had communications from different addresses.

Thanks in advance.

Advise the DCA in writing, sent by recorded delivery, that you are disputing the debt and that should stop them chasing. As it is FNTF that put on the charges, you need to go to them and attempt to reclaim them. I assume that the £595 is the same balance as what FNTF told you before they passed it on, and that the DCA haven't put any extras on?

hi dolly, and thanks for your reply.
yes the balance is the same as the last one from FNTF.
I'll try and get a letter together today to the DCA telling them the account is in dispute, and one to FNTF asking for a full itemised statement and telling them I have passed it on to CCCS - CCCS are going to have a fit my debt seems to have shot up in the last two weeks.... think I contacted them just in time !

Update:

Fleetwood debt recovery have accepted a proposal from CCCS to pay £5 a month off the above account.

The balance has changed to £433.

The original debt was £100 (one of those buy now pay in a year interest free but we forgot about it a didnt make the payment - hubby not telling me about it didnt help !)

What can we do - I'm sure the £333 isn't just interest and must be made up of charges ?

I havent had a reply to my Subject Access Request as yet - I'm guessing I need to wait for this info - but then willI be able to claim the charges back off the account as its with cccs ?
