Default Incorrect assessment

I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and in early April I starting having problems with my lower back. I went to see the doctor who briefly pressed a few places on my back and then prescribed some pain killers and relaxant tablets. The problem did not go away and a week later I went back with the same complaint but was seen by a different doctor. This one did not even examine me and just asked if I wanted 1 or 2 weeks off work. I then asked him to check my back and basically was told "what do you want me to do?"
We then moved to a different town and registered with the local doctor and made an appointment. The doctor did the usual feel around and then prescribed some therapy. The therapist gave me some excercises to do and within days and started to feel more mobile and I was able to return to work. The therapist also queried why I had not been referred to a therapist at an earlier stage as I had had the back problem previously about 2 years ago.
However as I still had issues I went back to the doctor who then sent me for X-rays and the x-rays should that there was an issue with the bone structure in my lower back but also that I had a large kidney stone. I now have to gfo for further X-rays.
I am assumi9ng that the previous dcotors just assumed that I had an arthritic problem and did not bother to refer me. I regard thsi as playing around with your life and you have only got one of those. I obviously lost money in my wage packet as a resulr of not having the correct treatment or being misdiagnosed by dcotors that were probably too lazy to refer me. I do not want thousands but I would like enought to basically cover my lost wages and a bit for the inconvenience.. Do you think it is worth pursuing this through the courts?

Hello. All I will say is someone will probably be along to offer any assistance. Only thing I can say is this sort of thing is quite common re 'backs'.

I'm afraid the usual treatment for a bad back inititally is pain killers/relaxants and instructions to keep moving, this is usually enough to solve the problem. Only if the problem persists will further investigations be done/physios involved.

I think you would be wasting your time trying to pursue this as you would have to prove negligence. As many drs would have taken the same approach this would be extremely difficult to prove.

Thanks. What was very annoying was the fact that I was told not told to keep moving but exactly the opposite. Secondly when I ask to be physically checked this was denied. Considering it was the second time in a space of 2 years I would have thought that appropriate steps would have been taken. Yesterday I picked up a prescription but the strength of the tablets was double what I was supposed to take, 5mg instead of 2.5mg. Good job it was not the methoxerate otherwise it could have killed me!

ITA with poppynurse here.

Also you went back to the drs after only a week of taking the relaxent tablets??? not very long to give them a fair go at all.

Physio etc costs a quite high and as poppynurse said only if the problem persists would most drs refer.
