Welfare rights officers are so good because they understand the right vocabulary to get the desired result from the DLA penpushers.

They don't care what your history is- just the precise wording of your DLA form and what physicians you have as back up.

Appeals are the WRO speciality. Remember to take all the forms and letters they have sent you. They helped me to win an appeal for incap (I had a medical which went wrong) .

I am particularly fond of the officers based at Waterloo Town Hall in Liverpool. I have learned from them never to attempt a DLA form- I leave that to the experts.

Kurt,

The people who assess your DLA claim at the DWP are NOT I repeat NOT medically qualified or trained.

They only look at how YOU state you are disabled by the conditions from which you suffer. They do not, in my experience, read, let alone understand, any medical reports that you send to them UNLESS these categorically state what you can or cannot do AS OPPOSED to a non-disabled person.

The fact you've been on Incap etc means sweet FA to them. Your conditions mean the same. They will ONLY focus on what you can and can't do. Simple.

So this is what you need to concentrate on.

I know it's irksome, I know it's unfair. I've been there, as you will see from my previous posts and I finally won through, but it was a long and hard struggle and it took a long time.

Their argument is always that two people can have a condition and it will affect each of them differently, therefore disabling each of them to a different degree.

I'm glad you are in fighting mood. You will need to be. I'm there right behind you, along with the good people on this forum.

Keep us posted?

Kurt,

A few years ago I had problems with my DLA. The 'powers that be' decided that I had had a miraculous recovery and stopped it ! I have chronic arthritis and cancer in my spine. You can imagine the difficulties !

I telephoned my MP and asked him to visit my home to discuss this matter. He came to see me on a Saturday morning and when he saw me and looked at the paperwork relating to my claim he became extremely angry and said he would deal with it.

To be honest I thought he was talking c**p and I would hear no more. But by the following thursday he had written to me saying that all my benefits had been re-instated and if I had ANY future problems I should contact him immediately.

Perhaps this is an avenue you could persue.

Good luck

Chris

cjw064, I checked out your website and it is very unclear as to whether you are charging a fee to "assist" people with difficulties and it reads to me like you do. Certainly, the only thing I saw advertised as "free" ws the 0800 number.
Quote:
We offer our potential new customers a free telephone interview to ascertain suitability of their claim. We provide a freephone number 0800 043 6972 so that our customers can call us free of charge and more so for the benefit of customers on low incomes.
Very noble, I'm sure, especially if it is to better hook them with a fee later on.

If that is the case, please go tout elsewhere. (If that is not the case and you help out people for free the way we all do here, then you have my apologies and a suggestion your site needs to be made a lot clearer on that.)

Hi Bookworm,
Thank you for your comment, to answe your query I am not "touting for business" yes my company charges a fee and we are a very successful company but we offer a freephone number to our customers as I personally offer FREE ADVICE to many people who are facing DLA difficulties and whether a customer wishes to employ my services from there is their choice and there is NO touting for business.
THANK YOU

If you have come on this site to advertise your business and you want people to come and be your customers, then the rest is just semantics- you are touting for business.
