Default Almost a result

Sent first letter 24th Jan 2007 requesting return of £1890.00 and never heard a peep. Sent second letter 8th Feb and still nothing, until today. Received a letter offering full and final settlement figure of £1890.00. Looks like a result.

Just to quote some of their letter, the last two paras are as follows

'For these reasons we do not agree with the basis of your complaint. We believe the charges we levy are for provising services and that they are not penalties or charges for default. Furthermore we believe that these charges are fair, reasonable and transparent.

However, having reviewed your case and as a gesture of goddwill and without admission of liability or error, in this instance we are prepared to offer the amount of £1890.00 paid direct to your account.'

They caved, and I got what was rightfully mine. So keep on fighting them folks.

I agree totally with you they do seem to be doing it quicker this year. I think Solicitors costs may have come into the equation.

Congrats.

The time is up on my prelim on Tuesday, I have got itchy fingers, ready and waiting to do the LBA, but I know I have to wait till the postie has been on Tuesday.

All I have had so far is the standard 'thank you we are looking into it' from someone who pp'ed it for Mr Higley

Well done, I can't believe how quick that was.
Some claims do appear to go through without much argument then others go all the way.
Enjoy the money, maybe time out in the sun?

Congratulations!

It does look as if they've realised that fighting claims from people who
are determined is costing them a lot more - if they see wording that they've already seen hundreds of times before from templates from this site, where there is a strong community all wanting to help each other they know few will give up or settle for less than full entitlement so it's not worth fighting.
My daughter's basic claim was £1100 but as they made us fight we claimed contractual interest at 29.7% (NW's unauthorised borrowing rate) and with court fees they ended up paying nearly £1700 instead!! (Not good business for NW)
Mind you it will be a shame if no one will be walking away with a profit any more as my daughter did <<sighs nostalgically for the "old days" of a few weeks ago>> that DID make my day!

Just to say to everyone, keep on fighting. NatWest seem to be pushing it to the last day or two of the LBA, then they cave in.

Just to round this one off, £1890.00 transferred into my account on 20th Feb, so just short of four weeks from starting to receiving the money back. RESULT.
