Default Unbelievable!!!

My salary was paid incorrectly into my bank last month and due to that my direct debits were all out of sync etc.

This led me to incur £304 in charges in this month!! Which is astonishing in any case but I dont normally have charges!!

I was charge £76 for a direct debit of £13!!!

Went down to my local branch yesterday to speak to them about it as I now dont have enough money for my mortgage!! Their response.....due to the number of people claiming their bank charges back we have new policies and procedures in place.....blah blah....new policies and procedures........ I was told no less than 9 times they have new policies and procedures!!!

Needless to say I didnt get any of my charges returned and was told to write to head office to claim any charges back that I thought were unfair!

"Unfair?" all of them were unfair!!! Bring on my statements!! I hope I have a lot to claim back from NatWest!!!

Oh aren't NatWest nice, so rather than save themselves time and money by refunding straight away they tell you to claim where they will incur costs....fine. lol. Good Luck

They messed me around so much, well what i'd do is wait 14days and then call their Data Protection office which is in the contacts page at the top of the NatWest forum because there is no reason why it takes any longer than 14days for them to send the statements if they do it properly.

Where has "personal banking" gone now! Just when Nat West are trying to win back customers, they do that to you. There was a time when you had someone monitoring movements, so if regular money going into an account didn't happen, you would get a phone call to ask if there was a problem. That would avoid all this bad action. Just a thought - if you are getting your salary paid direct to your account, you are contracted with your employer to pay it in by a certain time. They have deadlines to submit their payments, especially for times like christmas. If you are inconvenienced by their failure to pay you on time, then you could take the issue up with them and get them to pay your late payment fees. I think they arre legally obliged to make payments on-time.

What do you mean they guess your name all the time??

Well they shouldnt act in such unlawful ways then we wouldnt have to take action!!

I gave them the opportunity to pay back my charges, they didnt take it!

I just hope I can get them back in time!!

Wink Re: Unbelievable!!!

Yeah where has personal banking gone?!

So much for the adverts "There is another way" There is another way and then there is Natwests way!!!

My salary was paid into my bank in time the issue I had was that I was off sick and the date I was to return was after the cut off for payroll and as such they left my absence open until I had actually returned to work. Thus resulting in 4 additional days being taken off me as sick!

HR have said they followed company policy and have done all they can as they did pay me what was owed, even if it was late!!

Happy New Year!!

Just hope I can get some charges back and have a nice long hol in the sun!! ha

I know we are going a bit off track here - but surely if you were sick, they should still have paid you on-time and adjusted things afterwards? Unless you are temp staff or not on normal monthly payroll.

Still - if we had "personal banking" then you could have explained things to someone at the bank. Remember to include this in your court bundle (if it gets that far) as an example of how they operate - automatically without any regard to personal circumstances. It would have been more reasonable to pay a charge for a phone call from the bank to explain your problem and they could have delayed your payments to suit. What about the on-cost of their actions to the people they decline payments to! Has anyone thought of that yet!!!!

Changes to terms and conditions are likely, however they cannot be applied retrospectively though I am sure the banks would love to rewrite history.
