Red face Closing accounts?

Hi there,
Have told my mum about this site, and after seeing how I've progressed with Halifax, she's thinking about taking action against Nationwide.
She's sceptical though, as she's convinced Nationwide will close her account if she does. She doesn't want to lose her account with them as she travels a lot and isn't charged to withdraw when abroad.
Has anyone suffered a closed account at the hands of Nationwide when making a claim? They owe my mum a fortune!
Thanks
Mike

Why would your mother want to keep an account with an inhuman, money-grabbing organisation anyway?

Let them close the account! Open another one somewhere else.

Ooh, tantrums hey? Nationwide throwing their toys out of their pram.
Surely there's another law somewhere against this? Losers... cheers for your help though guys.
I have tried to explain to her, what she'd be getting back in the way of charges would easily cover any cashpoint charges she might receive in future... but she's not easily swayed!

They started to and gave up on it so no-one has challenged it as such yet.

for a bit of sport I think this would be fun. I got my we are closing your account letter yesterday. As soon as I got my first payout from them I called and removed my overdraft completely but that doesn't bother them. They still want to close it.

I did read somewhere that it is classed as retaliation and the Banking Code don't recommend it.

Also I still have an open claim so can they actually close it with an open claim? If not then every 7 weeks you could jst raise some form of complaint.

I also plan on just leaving 75p in each of my accounts so they have to process a cheque for 75p which will cost them more than if I left 0p.

Just being petty but who cares.
