The Nationwide Meet other Nationwide Bank customers who have also been faced with excessive unfair bank charges. A spokesman described some of their customers as "serial abusers" of their accounts. Is this true? - or is it really the Nationwide which is the serial abuser of its customers' accounts..

Default Looking for some advice/support

Also wondering if anyone else has had these problems with Nationwide.

I have been a customer of Nationwide for damn near all my life, as Mum opened an account for me before I was even 1. Anyway, about 2 years ago I decided to open a Flex Account with them and the problems started. I have never ONCE had a letter telling me about charges, I only find out about them when my statement comes through, or in the case of over Christmas, when a cheque is returned unpaid, which was a bloody joke! They whack out £180 of charges (bear in mind I am paid weekly, so that was like a week's wages down the drain!), cheque for £23 bounces, so on goes another £30 charge from Nationwide for returned cheque and £20 for going over the overdraft again and another £35 charge from Nationwide credit card! Taking the mickey anyone???

So tonight I will be looking through the letters on here, shall manipulate one so that it makes sense to my situation and the fight begins!

I won't even being describing the problems I have had with Nationwide credit card though as it would turn this post into a novel.

You go for it.

As you can see there are a lot of us on here fighting Nationwide and you will get fobbed off...I very much doubt, judging by mine and other's responses, that they will give in before you summon court proceedings.

Have a good read round the forums, get your letters done and enjoy the ride! Believe me, it gets quite addictive this and is very empowering.

Keep us up to date - we are all in the same position one way or another and of course, we will be here to support you.
