hello to you all I would like to start with a big Hi and Hello to everyone on CAG. I have been reading the site like crazy and have found many interesting and helpful threads......Now for a HUGE shout for HEEELLPP.... In a nut shell, had a house repossessed in 1992 (Halifax mortgage), in 1999 had contact (Phone calls and one I & E Letter) with Experto Credite after many ignored letters & paid about 115pounds @ 10, 15, 20 pounds a month until 2000. No contact then until this year, Jan 2008, scary letter from Curtis Solicitors acting for R & SA ( MIG insurers) giving me 14 days to respond, which I ignored, then a nicey nicey letter from them in June 2008, giving me 14 days to respond. Went to a solicitor who has letters and told me not to do anything at all, as a SARN may make them settle for more money than offering an amount if that becomes necessary. He seems to think they will give up. Anyone had this happen?? I felt he knew nothing more than me about dealing with this.
I was very young and scared back in the nineties and wish I knew then, what I know now about the whole repo business and MIGs because I know I could have one a case against the Halifax and all this would be water under the bridge but my solicitor says that it was so long ago that paperwork will not exist anymore. I also wish I had never been in contact with Experto as I now know that this starts the ball rolling again. I have thrown away old letters years ago (I know, very foolish). I have never SARNed anyone (solicitor says not to). Anybody out there got a similar story or any suggestions. I can’t find anything referring to an old repossession "popping up" again.
Thank you in advance for any help and advice. Really need anything anyone has to offer as I haven’t a clue what to do. |
