  1. HELP...... I just want to know what are time bands for Economy 7 ........I still don't know. Firstly and not unreasonably, I contacted my supplier British Gas who told me to contact UK Power Networks as the supplier of the electricity. Secondly, UK Power Networks referred me back to British Gas. Thirdly I thought, I know- the regulator OFGEM should be able to point me in the right direction, their suggestion was to go to Citizens Advice - which I thought was a little strange, they in turn suggested I contact my supplier. If I start to write gobbledegook, it's because I'm dizzy from going around in circles. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO I SHOULD CONTACT, I LIVE IN SUSSEX. Thanks,
  2. I was a director of a limited company that folded in the summer. The company is in the process of being removed from the company register. Unfortunately the company was not able to pay all its creditors, the council being one and today I had a baliff turn up at my home demanding the unpaid business rates. There was no money left to pay staff let alone the council. Can someone provide some guidence. Thanks
  3. OK, I mentioned earlier that I belive this is a [problem]. To your posting of yesterday at 22.39, from your translation three things do not stack up, first the Automated complaints address of Leon which is in Northern Spain and nowhere near the Balerics, second, the telephone number stated is a Madrid number and not a Leon or Minorca number and thirdly, local provinces collect their own fines, they are not handled centrally. The more I read your posting the more I'm convinced it's another con. With regards being worried about your next visit, the authorities are far too busy monitoring foreign visitors for for terrorism at the moment, I'm very sure parking fines will be way down on their list of priorities. Honestly, just throw it away.

    Mbna

Looking for advice. I have an MBNA credit card on which I took out protection insurance. After a year I instructed the bank to cancel the policy via a secure message over their website. Their response was that I could only cancel the policy by contacting them via the phone. This I did but was subject to all sorts of objections as to why I should not cancel and that I had to give a further 30 days notice commncing from the beginning of a charging period. In the meantime 3 further monthly premiums had been charged before the policy was cancelled. Can I claim a refund for MBNA not acting immediately on a customer instruction?
  5. T**co will have or will shortly provide a December return to the Tax authorities of all the Tax and NI deductions for the month. I suggest you visit your local tax office towards the end of January and take with you evidence of your correct NI number and the payslip provided by that large supermarket and let the tax office resolve your overcharge. This is by far quicker than doing it via mail correspondence.
  6. Hi guys, I need a considered opinion. Bought a car in October this year that needed some repairs - brakes. Completed and sent new owner details and sorn to DVLA. Car was kept off road until mechanic came to collect with tow-truck. Moved car onto the road, infront of my cafe, to allow tow-truck access to hitch up my car. It was whilist waiting for the truck to arrive (maybe 15 - 20 minutes) that I was reported for not having road fund licence. Received £78 fine about two weeks ago. Wrote a letter in mitigation to DVLA mentoning the aforementioned but my efforts were rejected. Phoned DVLA today- lady sympathised with my situation but said it's a case of wrong place wrong time, the car was on a public road without a valid vehicle tax. Do I have a reasonable enough case to have the case heard in the magistrates court (may incur costs etc if I lose) or should I just accept the fine? Thanks for reading.
  7. Hi Guys, Thanks for the responses. G&M, what do you mean by "the traffic order" - please expand Thanks
  8. At the end of September I was issued a PCN by mid sussex council for parking outside a bay in a council run car park. In mitigation I mentioned that the car to my left had parked similarly forcing me to park as I did. They rejected this and stated I should have parked elsewhere. The councill provided a photograph of the infringement that clearly shows me about 6 inches over, but it was taken 11 minutes after the ticket was issued. Anything could have happened inbetween times. Any views?
  9. I live in Spain for at least 6 month each year so I'm reasaonably familair with events there. Spanish authorities take a different view to speeding drivers compared to the UK. Generally speed cameras are very few and far between in Spain and you will definately be forewarned when in operation. From memory only the larger cities have a few cameras installed on motorways, not the Islands. My immediate view is that it's probably another [problem] by East Europeans who love target the Brits and French. Secondly, it definately can't be enforceable as the Spanish authorities have no juristiction here in the UK. My considered opinion is to bin the ticket.

    Egg credit card

After reclaiming charges from A&L they closed my account without sufficient notification - (ombudsman is on the case). As a result my credit card payment was late on a couple of occassions as it takes forever to set up a direct debit nowdays and Egg charged me £16 a pop. I questioned this and here is their reply: Dear xx, After reviewing your previous secure messages i can see that you have been previously advised that the £16 charge does stand on your account as it is in your Terms & Conditions that you agreed to when you signed up for your card. If you still wish to view this you may put a request in to do that. We are not obliged by English law to offer a breakdown of the charges to yourself for inspection, furthermore our charges were reviewed last year by the office of fair trading and they were reduced down from the £20 they were previously and were deemed to be reasonable at £16. Regards T S Borrowing Team Any comments? Regards,
  11. Thank them for their letter and tell them you have noted it's content. Inform them that you expect them to adhere to your original agenda of xxdays irrespective of the current events mentioned in their letter. Keep it brief and to the point. Best of luck.
  12. Interesting question. Ryanair cancelled our flight from Italy last November. Being Ryanair, no right to care was provided, we had to arrange a hotel for the night, transport from airport to hotel, transport to another airport 3 hours away by rail etc. I lodged a claim for my expenses, Ryanair's answer was no, claim on your holiday insurance. I challenged this response but no answer from Ryaniar. I took out a court summons via the small claims court. Ryanair did not put in a defernce within the specified time. Then, by magic, judgement for me was set aside on the grounds of juristriction (Ryanair being Irish). I sent the court details of a recent case where somebody sued Ryanair in the UK and won (precedent was then set) and an extract from a daily broadsheet where their chairman more or less agreed Ryanair should be considered British as the majority of its business is based in the UK. The court sent me a letter asking for a further £100, to appeal the judges's decision. I DID ALL THE WORK PROVIDING DETAILS TO THESE RECENT EVENTS. IF I COULD FIND THEM WHY COULDN'T THE JUDGE. SECONDLY, WHY DID THE JUDGE NOT KNOW ABOUT OR CONSIDER THESE DETAILS IN HIS ORIGINAL DELIBERATION? Anybody legal person out there have a view on how I should proceed? Cheers,
  13. I had the same problem. I phoned Ryanair, who I never again use, and was told i didn't have a booking. Odd I said because the money had come out of my bank account. I need to rebook said Ryanair - problem was the fares had since increased from £100 to nearly £400 ..........oh, and Ryanair were prepared to refund the monies that I had originally paid. Very politely, I told the chap at Ryanair to **** off and just give me my booking reference which miraculously he had just located. Problem solved.

Sent the N149 allocation questionnaire to my local county court before the due date of 5 July with a copy to DLA Piper. Good news is I didn't have to pay an additional £100 as the claim is less than £1500. As of today, I have received nothing from DLA Piper, should I be expecting to see a copy of their completed N149?
