  1. It might be worth getting a quote from a local mobile air-con specialist, if its anyhting around the kwik fit price then its a no brainer, especially if they come to you.
  2. The website was www.monstersupplementstore.com I think the name of the website is designed to suck in people who might get it confused with another webiste (www.monstersupplements.com) who have a very god reputation. I only ordered as they were the cheapest for the product I wanted and the website looked pretty good, wish I had searched the web first now.
  3. I ordered a item form website who took the money from my account that same day. The next day I got an email saying that there was a problem with the order and it turns out the item is not in stock and was told 10 days for it to be delivered but 10 days later and the item is not in stock. I had a quick look around the interenet and found this is common practise for this website. I have been told that it is against the distance selling regulation and therefore illegal to take payment for goods that are not avaliable? Thanks, Tim
  4. Back in Jan 2007 I made a successful claim against HSBC for my charges. In the last few months I have incurred a few charges and i (like everyone else here) would like them back. Now I 've had a look through this forum but couldn't find anyone who has won for the 2nd time recentley, but i want to know if HSBC are still closing accounts when a second claim is made against them, as I remember them doing this a couple of years ago. Thanks, tim
  5. I'm just about to help a friend through the process of claiming back charges on his Lloyds account, but he is worried Lloyds might cancel his overdraft should he eventually be succesful. I was wondering if anyone who has been succesful had anything changed such as their overdraft cancelled on their account as a result of claiming back their charges? Thanks, Tim
  6. Back in 2004 Vodafone entered a default on my credit record for a bill on an account I had requested to cancel which only got cancelled after I cancelled the direct debit and the bills weren't paid, and the debt was passed on to Buchanan Clark & Wells. I paid the debt off, but when I applied for a mortgage at the weekendwas refused over this debt. The debt was for £89, with £14 stil outstanding. When I checked my old statements yetsreday I paid BC & W £89.16, 3 payments of £25 and a final payment of £14.16. Obvioulsy I would like to get the default removed as I had asked for the contract to be terminated but Vodafone kept the conrtact running untill I cancelled the DD and the account went into arrears and I don't recall being sent a default notice. So would my first port of call be to send a S.A.R to Vodafone and BC&W? Any help would be great, thanks.
  7. Probably not what you want to hear, but I belive that if you were aware that the car was a write-off, than it is your responsibility to make any possible buyers aware to that fact. If you were not told when you bought the car and you were genuinely unaware that the car had been written off than the previous owner is at fault and the liability can be passed to them. This is what I think is the basics of it, I had a written off car a few years ago and vaugely remember beng told this, but not 100% on it.
  8. Two questions really, 1. Does anybody know the basic principles of the rule and how a settlement figure is achieved? I am 16 months into a 36 month loan agreement for a £6170 inc interest, plus ppi for £1471. I have asked to cancel and been offered £9.70 of each outstanding repayment, which adds up to £194. Does this sound normal? 2. I've been looking into ending the loan and whilst looking through the loan agreement i've noticed that my date of birth is in correct, 1982 instead of 1983. I know I should have checked this, but just rushed to the agreement back to the loan company. Now I can't see I would have got this incorrect, not really something i forget. This means that if I were to claim, according to the terms and conditions of the PPI, "your right to any benefit under this policy shall end." What would the chances of claiming back the full amount of ppi do I have. Any help would be grateful.
  9. I prefer to use a cheque, as some banks don't charge you (although Cap1 do), so if they were to send the cheque back you can simply rip it up, but its a bit more hassle with a po. Cap1 are one of the easier banks to deal with, as dx100uk said, just stick to your timetable and don't accept anything but the full amount.
  10. What car do you have and is it an automatic or manual?
  11. Well, i doubt it would have taken them nearly 4 hours to fit two rubber brake hoses and weld up an exhaust. For that sort of money I would have expected the garage to fit a new catatlytic converter. A genuine peugeot cat would be expensive, but nowadays the price of after market cats has dropped pretty significantly. . But I would still let them take you to court if thats waht they are threatening and thats the way they want to go, I can't see they would have a leg to stand on. Hopefully someone will be along shortly who knows the technicalities of this and be a bit more use than me.
  12. If it was my car, I would stick by my guns and not pay for the work carried out, only the pay for the mot and let them take it to court if they want to get the rest. But am I right in thinking that the £171 was the labour charge to fit two brake hoses and weld up an exhaust?
  13. Thanks GuidoT, just finished those letters.
