Please can you help: I had my house double galzed in 2004. and I had no end of problems and I have had the installations director out to check out the work and it has all been put right, but now I have a crack in the frame of my front door. the director came out in August/ september and said he will be in toch in a week or so. Well, no word yet - I would like to issue a letter before action but I do not know if I can do this and then go to county court to get my money back so that I can get someone in to change the door. Please can you help as home improvements is an area that most people are unsure about their rights as consumers. Thank you.

Just a note to say that I estmated for the years that are on Microfinche and I sent a letter asking for £1200. I received an offer of £300. I will now speak to them on Monday, as I found with MNBA that I was able to sort it out over the phone and got all £720 back in charges from them.

Hi there I just received the same letter today and totalled amount of fees on the list they gave me and it comes to £739.00. It also gave a phone number so I rang to speak to the person mentioned in the letter, but he was busy. Later I got a call back from someone who works with him and I told them that I would like to discuss these charges and about claimimg them back. She said that because OFT saying that £12.00 was acceptable fee. They are not going to pay any full claims back and that I need to write to them and they would look at each claim individually.

I just spoke to someone at the Customer Advocate Office and they said that becasue of the OFT saying that £12.00 was acceptable they are no longer going to pay the full amount of charges back to anyone.

Hi there I have received an offer of £575.00 from barclays after sending them a letter requesting my £1430.00 of charges. Your offer seems a little low. When I rang and spoke to the person who sent me the offer( they included they direct number) I did say that the offer was not even half on the charges. He said that he was not prepared to increase the offer and I then said that I will have to start court proceedings and he said go ahead. I said that you do know that there is a precedant for this case and that I will win, he said the knows. So I am now wondering do I send a new letter as I have more charges added since I sent the original letter or do I start a claim? Any ideas? Saida
