I Recentley Part Exchanged My Vehicle For A New One,we Got Our Car And A Reciept To Say The Old Car Was Paid,5 Weeks After The Event We Started To Get Default Letters Fron Black Horse For Non Payments.i Contacted Them And Explained That We No Longer Had The Vehicle As We Had Part Exchanged For A New Car ,they Said That They Had Recieved No Payments From The Dealership. We Then Attended The Dealership Richard Alexanders In Leeds To Find That The Administraitors Were There And Told That Alexanders Had Gone Into Recievership.our Old Vehicle Was Seen On The Forecourt For Sale ,when We Explained That To Black Horse We Were Told That It Was Our Problem And We Need To Pay Any Outstanding Monies To Them. We Then Left The Old Vehicle At Alexanders Until This Matter Was Resolved,in The Meantime Black Horse Finance As Repossessed The Vehicle To Auction, without Our Consent Or Voluntary Termination We Have Paid Over One 3rd Of Our Agreement,do We Not Have A Legal Case Re Repossession Without Authority.they Are Saying We Abandoned The Vehicle But They Were Kept Informed At All Times Regarding Ongoing Discussions With The Administrators, and Told That Until The Situation Was Resolved The Vehicle Would Remain At Alexanders Dealership Yours Kevin Brook

Bright house of horrors
woodywhite replied to rory32's topic in BrightHouse and other "rent to own" Hire Purchase Stores
Hi I Got Offered A Job With Brighthouse,it Was Debt Collecting Or Returning Of Goods,on Asking Various Questions I Asked The Manager What Was Involved ,he Said Getting Cash Or Returning The Goods What Customers Have Purchased On Finance,i Asked The Question Do You Need A Court Order To Retake The Goods,he Replied We Dont Go To Court, and If The Customer Refuses To Give Them Back They Write The Goods Off Because They Never Go To Court For A Return Of Goods Order,if They Are Hounding You Try It Out,dont Let Them In They Have No Powers To Gain Entry, not Bailiffs ,they Are Only Debt Collectors, you Have Nothing To Lose And A Lot To Gain.bye The Way I Did Not Take The Job Up They Are Very Un-proffessional -

If You Were On Income Base Support The Council Should Have Taken These Accounts Back, and Deducted From Your Benefits Unless You Already Have Attachments On Them,as A Bailiff Myself I Would Be Looking At £5 Per Week As Council Instuctions,i Have Only Just Started Viewing This Site And Amazed At The Lack Of Bailiff Response, did You Not Inform The Council Tax Department You Were On Income Support, bearing In Mind The Housing Department Are 2 Seperate Departments And Often Dont Correspond

I agree with what you say about bailiffs bullying people, there is no reason for it to happen, and i cannot justify anyperson using these tactics. As for myself iam 54 years of age and would not dream of using force or unreasonable behaviour .Ihave a good relationship with lots of clients who i put on arrangements that is suitable to them and the council ,i can only say that if anybody is threatened or intimidated, contact the council and report the incident and ask them to be removed from dealing with you. Obviously you have had a bad experience, all i can say stick to your agreed arrangement if you incurr any problems notify the bailiff who is dealing with your case and he should be able to sort matters out. Ican only say that it is much easier doing business with somebody who is helpful, rather than a client who gets irate . Please if you have any doubts about the cans and cannots of bailiffs go to google and search bailiff guide, and if any doubts when the bailiff calls quote from the guide, also special thoughts must be given to clients on jsa./income support, and vunreable people.if in doubt dont let bailiff in or tell them to call back when you have somebody with you. hope it helps a little woodywhite

as a bailiff with over 15 years experience i take exception to your remarks about bailiffs being thugs etc, most bailiffs that i deal with are more than willing to accept arrangements to suit your and the clients needs, saying there is no point in putting a person on arrangements they cant keep, but also has to be in the time scale set down by the client. After all we are working people like yourselves who choose this work rather than be a joiner, electrician etc.i think if you contact the bailiff in a correct manner he will only more than helpful to sort out your problems,if not, he is not doing is work correctly, but remember be awkward and rude to him will not get you the results only get his back up
