  5. yes, how about you actually pay the true costs of your business that others are suffering through their health. people choose where they live... all that rubbish about "oh i have no choice". sob sob sob. well im out of here, i thought this place was ethical but when we have threads popping up going on "how can i pollute more cheaply" it obviously isn't. the only disgrace about petrol prices is that tens of thousands of people die every year from air pollution and then some people moan it's not cheap enough. "over 1,500 people die in Scotland each year from passive smoking, there are 2,000 deaths from vehicle emissions." "The European Union could save up to 161 billion euros a year by reducing deaths caused by air pollution, the World Health Organization has said. Air pollution reduces the life of the average European by 8.6 months. " "The health consequences for people with lung diseases like asthma and emphysema can lead ultimately to a premature death Grahame Pope Chartered Society of Physiotherapy" " Premature deaths due to particulate matter Germany 65,088 Italy 39,436 France 36,868 UK 32,652"
  6. lloyds tsb say that if they can only charge 12 quid per charge they will have 250 million wiped off their profits. surely this is them admitting they profit from bank charges.
  7. ground rent can be the money for rent of the land... we get ground rent and we do not include other things in the ground rent like maintenance which is extra. i suppose we could call those "administrative fees." if you have lots of properties its actually cheaper to call maintenance that rather than detail it individually, would you rather have a full invoice with everything detailed that costs £10 because someone had to work out 15% of painting the outside to meet conservation area standards, 15% of a new lightbulb, 15% of tree pruning?
  8. thats nothing. a friend of mine has spina bifida and is paralysed. the nhs misdiagnosed her, her GP then entered incorrect data in her medical records to cover up the mistake so she was misdiagnosed by everyone else too (until she got pregnant when it was spotted by someone). the doctor made the exact same "mistake" with her cousin. their paralysis is both caused by the fact that medical professionals were saying they didnt need spinal operations when they did.
  9. hurrah... cheaper petrol prices... more pollution... more asthama. did you know that according to the WHO that in real terms 7 times as many britons die from the cr*p drivers pump out into the air than they do from passive smoking.
  10. yes but smile also claim to be an ethical bank. ethical banks dont break the law. they could be doing it on those grounds alone... it gives them a perfect marketing angle of being ethical against everyone else. if one bank alone gets rid of charges that stands it in a very good position against its competitors and if the bank already publicises its ethical approach this strengthens it further. smile could be doing a very smart thing in terms of business.
  11. same here. you tell me how much money ive cost them so far? i would this group and all the fuss that happened exists because last year banks about maybe a dozen people who happened to know a little about the law and how to use the internet. had we been refunded when we wanted the money we probably wouldnt be so incensed now we tell everyone we know. EASY ON THE SWEAR WORDS, PLS, WE DO GET SENSITIVE SOULS HERE.
  12. "where the public have access to a building in order to view the building or part of it, or a collection or part of a collection housed in it, any person who without lawful authority removes from the building or its grounds the whole or part of any article displayed or kept for display to the public in the building or that part of it or in its grounds shall be guilty of an offence. For this purpose 'collection' includes a collection got together for a temporary purpose, but references in this section to a collection do not apply to a collection made or exhibited for the purpose of effecting sales or other commercial dealings." so... its unlawful to take. however its not prosecutable because "A person does not commit an offence under this section if he believes that he has lawful authority for the removal of the thing in question or that he would have it if the person entitled to give it knew of the removal and the circumstances of it."
  13. yeah. well done if you want to back up dvds then just get dvd shrink. its completely free and does the job nicely even with simple reauthoring tools.
  14. a friend of mine went to japan for a year and every month natwest did this to him because he wasnt paying in one pound a month. he'd told them before he went and they never mentioned anything about him paying in 1 quid a month. the threat of legal action got him the money back plus interest. he was pretty happy actually as he'd run up the overdraft to start with to stooze (he got 5 grand with three different banks and stuck it in a high interest accuont) so the banks additional charging just made him an extra 8% on what they tried to take off him.
  15. if your charges have been more than your total overdraft size ALL interest charges on the overdraft from the chronological point this happened can be claimed back. this can add substantially to your claim.
