  1. OK. There's nothing I can do about it anyway. I'm not going to cancel my move just to please the ROC.
  2. I don't want to buy/rent a property that I haven't seen in person first. There could be all sorts of problems that would not be visible in selected photographs.
  3. I don't recall the time of the train as this incident took place almost two weeks ago, so I cannot include that. I am sure that they will be able to work out which case this is from my name and address though. I intended on including my name and address, but they weren't included in my previous post for reasons I assumed were fairly obvious. I do not see how it is possible to confirm evidence of emigration. How's this revised draft?: My name My former address Date Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to inform you that I am moving to NAME OF COUNTRY I AM MOVING TO and, by the time you receive this letter, I will no longer be a resident of the UK. Therefore any post sent to my former address will not be received. Unfortunately I do not have an address in NAME OF COUNTRY I AM MOVING TO yet, so I am unable to provide you with this information. I was stopped on board a train from NAME OF STATION OF DEPARTURE to NAME OF NEXT STATION on the 10th of March for travelling with an incorrect ticket. If you wish to pursue this case, then I am informing you that it will not be possible for me to provide any form of response, no matter how far you decide to escalate this case. Furthermore, I did not mean to board the incorrect train, neither was I the only passenger who did so. The reason I boarded the incorrect train is due to the station layout at NAME OF STATION OF DEPARTURE. I was not aware that the platform I was supposed to use was hidden around the corner. I simply followed the signs to the platform. Upon seeing a train on the platform I assumed was mine, I boarded the train. As my train was scheduled to leave in a few minutes, I was in a rush and did not have the time to familiarise myself with the irregular platform layout. I had no intent to travel without paying as I had already paid for a ticket for the journey I intended to take to NAME OF STATION I PURCHASED A RETURN TICKET FROM. I merely boarded the incorrect train by accident. Yours sincerely, MY NAME
  4. How is this: I am writing to inform you that I am moving to another country and, by the time you receive this letter, I will no longer be a resident of the UK. 5. Thank you. I will try to draft a letter over the weekend and submit it here to see if it is up to scratch. For what it is worth, I was not the only one who had boarded the incorrect train as the RPI informed me that he had already issued 7 tickets to others on board who had made the same mistake as me. When he went to call for BTP assistance, three other passengers came to speak to me, with two of them telling me that they had also made the same mistake in the past, while the third said that they see people make the same mistake on this platform every week. I am also wondering what will be in the RPI's report as, when we alighted, he told the BTP that I had refused to provide him with my name and address when he asked for them. I quickly told him that he never asked for this and that he had only asked if I was carrying ID, to which I truthfully replied that I was not. When I explained that this was all on the audio/video recorder he was carrying, he suddenly became very quiet on the matter.
  6. So what's the advised course of action? I cannot read the letter as I will not be here. The remaining resident at the address will not open post that isn't addressed to them.
  7. Could the letters not just be marked with something like: 'Return to sender: Does not live at this address. New address unknown' My mail will not be opened. I will not be in the country and I have no intent of moving back here. I am not able to reply. What will happen?
  8. I have been issued with a penalty fare today after incorrectly boarding the wrong train. I made the mistake as, my train was scheduled to leave in a few minutes and I rushed to catch it. Being unfamiliar with the station, I wasn't aware that the platform I required was tucked away around the corner. I simply saw my platform number and rushed to the train behind it. Usually when you board the incorrect train, the guards are pretty understanding and, at worst, make sure that you get off at the next platform. Unfortunately I ran into a revenue protection officer on board, who was adamant that I should have to buy an additional ticket at an inflated rate. I told him that I did not wish to pay as I had made a mistake due to the platform layout, but he was only interested in taking payment for a ticket. At the next station he alighted and took my details, telling me that they would be taking me to court over the matter. I was then escorted to the station I originally intended on travelling to by British Transport Police. I happen to be moving abroad with no plans on returning in the next few days. This means that the letter will arrive when I am no longer in the country. What will happen in regards to my case? Somebody will still be living at my address. What should they do with the letter when it is received?
