  1. To be fair I'm going to leave well alone as I'm pretty sure there's no money anyway and as far as I'm concerned I've got a letter from them telling me I've paid . As for getting my bank details that's never going to happen even my wife has to fight tooth and nail to get hold of that . Not tight just careful lol.
  2. Just a quick update to what's going on. Received a letter from them last week thanking me for the payment they received ( god knows how as I never paid anything) but unfortunately they have mislaid my bank details ( which they didn't have anyway ) so could I forward my details on to them at which time they will put any money due to me from my dad into my account . Seriously how thick do they think I am, but have got to give them 10 out of 10 for cheek and perseverance. Once again thanks for all the sound advice
  3. Hi there Iby1924 , hope you get loads of good info and advice as I certainly did.
  4. I'd like to thank you for the info but the thing that niggles me is , I never knew he claimed a Dutch pension so its a bit late for me to be looking at their laws now, also I never benefited from this Dutch pension so why should I pay it back. On top of that the bank details they give me it would cost me an extra 30 pounds to transfer that money to them, so not only would I be out of pocket for a Dutch pension I never had I'd also be out of pocket by another 30 quid to send them it. Maybe I should bill them for it see how they like it. I could understand if my dad had left loads of money and there was ample to pay them back but when it's coming out of my pocket its a different matter but thanks for asking your friend anyway. Appreciate all the answers.
  5. I'd like to thank everyone for the answers I got its put my mind at rest, I did try getting answers from the citizen advice bureau but they couldn't help then I went to my MP but parliament had been dissolved for the elections so she couldn't help so I thought ill try a free half hour consultation with a solicitor and all I got from them was yes we can help but I would have to pay to find out how which would probably of cost me more than the actual bill. I wish I had found this site earlier on. So basically I'm going to stand my ground and see what happens . Thanks again to all for the info and ill let yous all know what develops hopefully not from behind a Dutch prison wall ha ha
  6. Hi everyone My dad worked in Holland for a few years but through ill health came back to England and died on the 4th October 2014, but last month (may2015) I received a letter from the Dutch pension body saying they were sorry for our loss but they overpaid my dad for the month of October by 195 euros and they wanted it back. (I didn't even know he was getting a Dutch pension) I phoned them up to explain he lived in a council flat and only had around 2000 pounds to his name which paid for the funeral and that there was nothing left , I even offered to send them bank acc details and the bill for the funeral to prove it had all gone but they replied quiet angrily saying they weren't bothered if there was nothing left, in Holland the debt goes to the children to which I said I've never had that money plus I live in England and they turned round and said if you don't pay we'll send the bailiffs round and take your stuff to cover that amount yet back in England he owed some council arrears and I explained the same thing to them and they wrote off the arrears. my questions are ? 1 Do I have to pay them or even should I pay them. 2 can they send the bailiffs round to take my stuff . I just cant understand how Dutch law can over rule English law and make me pay. I'm grateful for all and any help cause I just don't know where to turn
