  1. So, they finally replied to my email with the below: Do you think they'll actually ask her? Or claim they have and then try to push for the charges again?
  2. They never replied, so I phoned them today asking about the "security fee", he said that whoever I spoke to the other day was wrong, it's not a security fee it is an agency fee for the paperwork they have to do. Any advice on a next move?
  3. I've just sent them an email: ----------------------- Hi, I'm a tenant at *** and spoke to *** on the phone the other day. She said something about a £99 fee for both mine and the landlords security, which I must pay when renewing my tenancy. Can you please detail in full what this fee is for? Regards, *** ----------------------- Will let you know their reply.
  4. Yeah, when I signed up for the tenancy I had to pay 1 months rent in full as a deposit, I'll phone them up asking for an explanation and get back to you.
  5. I've said to them on the phone that I would come in on Saturday to sort this out, think it is worth me phoning them saying I'd rather let the tenancy turn onto the rolling periodic tenancy?
  6. Sorry I forgot to update you guys, but that letter worked perfectly! They didn't reply at all to me, I just got an email from the gym about a week later acknowledging that I don't have to pay anything to Harlands. Thanks a lot for the advice!
  7. Hello there, after getting great advice on my first question I posted here, I thought I'd see what advice I can get with this issue I'm having! I've been renting an apartment for 6 months and the tenancy is due to be renewed at the end of this month, I thought I would just have to phone them up to say I would like to stay another 6 months, but they said I have to come in, and then pay them £99 for mine and the landlords "security"... Is this the letting agency trying to claw more agency fees? If so, is there anything I can say to not have to pay? Thanks a lot in advance
  8. Hi Slick, just as I was about to send this letter to Harlands, I got an email from the gym manager, it read: Good Evening, We’ve noticed you’ve recently cancelled your membership here at Pure Gym Manchester so we’d like to say thank you for your custom and wondered if you give us some feedback... If you were unaware that you’re membership has cancelled, please call our accounts team on **number** or email **email**] as there may have been an issue with your direct debit and we’ll be able to get you back up and running again before your next visit... J or you can log into the members area of the website and click the button to rejoin. Remember, if you’re just going away for a couple of months, it may have been better to freeze your membership… see **link** for more details. If you have cancelled, please would you take a minute to give us some feedback, whether positive or constructive...? Or is there anything we can do to change your mind? Our ears are open! Looking forward to seeing you back in the club soon. If I can help in any other way, please let me know... ------------------ My member ship is cancelled so do I have to pay anything now since I don't want to be a member any more? Thanks for all your help so far!
  9. Hi Slick, thanks for the welcome and response! 1) I joined on: 05 Dec 12 2) The DD date was usually around the 10th 3) I haven't had any recent warning about the price increase. 4) Yes, the membership did specify this. I know I should have done this last month, that was an error on my part as I thought December would have been my last £11.99 month, which is why I made sure I had left £11.99 in my bank. I have cancelled the DD to the gym. Will a short and sweet letter do for this? I don't mind having to pay my last month at £18.99 if needs be, but I don't want to pay Harlands this stupid administration fee. Thanks for the help!
  10. Hi, I've been a member of the Pure Gym in Manchester since December last year. I joined when they was offering £11.99 a month membership for 1 year, and thought this would be my last month. I had left just enough in my bank to pay the £11.99, but since the fee had been raised to £18.99, my bank returned the DD. I was going to cancel at the end of this month because of the price increase, but this morning I received an email saying: Harlands administer the collection of all payments due under your agreement with Pure Gym. Your bank have advised us that your December instalment has been returned unpaid "refer to payer" as there were insufficient funds in the account to pay the amount due. We will therefore debit your account on 19 DEC 13 for the total amount of £38.99 made up as follows: Instalment Amount £18.99 Administration Fee £20.00 Total Due £38.99 Please note that the submission for this will be made two working days prior to 19 DEC 13 and if this date is not convenient, please contact us on the HARLANDS HELPLINE - 0871 876 8712 *. Calls to this number cost 10p/minute including VAT from a BT landline. Calls from other phones may cost more. I don't want to pay this as I didn't want the membership at that price, is there anything I can do about this?
