  1. So I'm trying to help out a few people who have been ripped off by a pay weekly carpet/white goods company. The company's name is U.K. Homemaker ltd, managing director a mr Richard greenwood. They provide carpets, blinds and some white goods on a pay weekly basis. Customers are told to pay for these goods sometimes well in advance via standing order. Often these goods never arrive. Promises are made of goods "in a few weeks" and a few weeks never arrive. Some customers have continued to pay standing orders even when the items have been paid for in full, often a oversight by the customer but then they are told they are not entitled to a refund as it states in the contract that no overpayments are to be refunded. Over the past week customers are ringing the company and nobody is answering. Visits to the unit where they are based have seen the unit with the shutters down and nearby businesses have said they have shut down. Companies house papers state that in a few weeks U.K. Homemaker will be struck off and the company dissolved. Question time now if you have got thru all of the above and still have interest... .is there any way customers can bring a claim to get monies refunded if this company is dissolved. Is there anyway to hold the managing director to account? Like most pay as you go goods companies they have often preyed on the more vulnerable side of society. Some people are 100s of pounds out of pocket and I'd like to help them if this is possible Thanks for reading
  2. I don't think they do work on behalf of others. One company at the unit sells the products the other that is also owned by the same guy then provides the goods under a diffrent company name! I now have the insurers name thanks for the advice and I'm sending them a email now to point out the lack of tax and mot. I've had a quick look at policy's for this insurance company online that states the insured vehicle must be in a roadworthy condition. It is not in my eyes as not only having a mot the front lights on the van are damaged meaning it would not pass one due to not complying with headlight rules. It unfortunately does not state it will be void for no tax or insurance, yet many including mine do! I have a text message from the md and a Facebook message that confirms vehicles collided. Hopefully enough to prove that the vehicle was on the road when it should not have been! That and the drivers home address name and company name as the van was not sign written. Yet apparently there was no damage but why hand over these details of that is the case? I'm still obtaining the cheapest quotes possible in order to save my car. fingers crossed. I really do not want to let this cowboy company get away with breaking road rules and shrugging responsibility
  3. Very similar but from what I have read it appears they are worse than them
  4. I would love to name them but don't wish to as yet as they may be lurking! I don't want to give them prior heads up about whatever action I may take. It's a company that sells pay weekly home goods at a hugely inflated cost....
  5. There is no underlying damage. As a ex mechanic myself I have done my own checks chassis remains intact etc. Insurance won't allow a buy back of the car. They have already attempted to take my car to salvage before I have obtained quotes as the car is worth more in parts value! I have a strong knowledge with these cars having broke them down for parts myself in the past. I just want to know what route I can take now with the company itself or is it something I have to let insurance thrash out? I think it's wrong how they can deny damage just because of lack of cctv and be driving round in a vehicle which should not be on the toad
  6. Hi I was hit by a company van causing body panel damage to my vehicle. The company has since claimed a collision took place but I agreed with their driver that no damage was caused. I did not agree such thing as it happened at night and I could not inspect the car properly until the next day. I contacted my insurance the same day who are now processing my claim. I'm not happy with the third party claims company they have put in charge of the claim as they seem intent on writing off my vehicle. I've been in touch with the rude md of this company who has claimed I have fabricated the claim and there was previous damage to the vehicle, there was not at all. Internet searches on the company reveal a lot of bad press about this company! And now I've done some more digging the van in question has not had a mot or tax for some time now. I have spoken with a solicitor via my Union who has said I could recover sums from third party. I do not want my car to be written off as it is a car I really love and only needs a wing. ..something I could do myself. But I don't want the arrogant md thinking he can get away with it and also not think he can get away with driving around with expired mot and tax! I pay my way in the road why shouldn't he! The police are not interested and have told me to inform the dvla. I have a text where he admits there was a collision between the vehicles and saying there was no damage to my car... .he was not present when the accident took place it was his employee driving Can anybody advise the best way to deal with this in hope of me not having a total loss vehicle? Thankyou
  7. I tried to put the email address on my reply to help this person but i dont have enough posts to do so. Is there any way i can get admin to put this up in order to help this customer get her issues ressolved please? I know this is a working email as i had replys from the director of homebuy Thanks
  8. Please please do not use this company They charge the earth for white goods and maintenece cover they force you into. For what you pay you could go elsewhere and get a whole heap of stuff. I was with this comany for a good number of years. When i needed to make a complaint i was subgect to abuse from call handlers. In one call an employee thought she had placed me on hold when infact she hadnt and i could hear every word she said about me to others in the room. I managed to obtain the email address of the director. Her name is julie driver She will lie to you and promise to get compaints ressolved. Shortly after speaking to her my partner received a not very nice call from a homebuy employee filled with verbal abuse. This call was made from a personal mobile phone. How nice!! They have no regard for yoyr private details just letting the staff do with them as they pleaee. My advice to you would be run for the hills!! Save for what you need and avoid this comany at all vosts. Cancel your direct debit and see if anyone has any advice for you on here about getting out of the contract. There will only be trouble ahead for you if you decide to stick with them. Your only a short way into your contract and dont even have goods....just hassle!! Good luck
  9. Yes....30% of £0 So technically I can ignore and still be taking advantage of their offer.......fools!!
  10. I've uploaded a picture of the letter but it has come up rather small so il type it out..... Dear mr and mrs whowhatwhere How can you clear this for less? We want to save you money and help you clear the outstanding debt owed to our client nationwide. Our client has agreed to offer you the opportunity to clear this balance by paying only 30% of what you actually owe and they have confirmed that once your payment of £0 is cleared you will not be pursued for the remaining balance. If you can't settle the account at this time then we can arrange a payment plan to help you pay back in amounts you can afford. Just call 08448735678 and speak to one of our advisors who will be happy to help. This offer is valid only until 26th September 2013 so if you think you will need longer to arrange for payment to be made, please call and request an extension to this offer. There are no typos by me in the above......they re actually sending demands out for £0 owed, it also says outstanding debt £0 at the top So do I pay 30% of what they say I owe or are they trying to fleece me
  11. Received this letter In The post this morning, I'm unsure what offer to accept from these people. Do I just pay the 30% of the amount they state in the letter I owe and put this debt to bed It's from ccscollect, I've never had any dealings with these so unsure how the operate.....
