  1. No way, Thatcher was the worst by a country mile. And John Major was just useless. I also think Cameron's tenure will be seen as a flop too when in 7 months time we are rid of him and his toffs.
  2. It's hardly Brown's fault that England are constitutionally not allowed a parliament, or, English only issues for English only mps. He's absolutely 100% accurate on this issue.
  3. Gordon Brown even convinced that great capitalist nation, the USofA, to embrace that pillar of socialism, nationalisation, in order to save their, and thus the world's, economy. A totally unthinkable thing to happen before the crash. And it worked. No mean feat.
  4. Simply untrue. The sale of gold by Brown raised about £7 billion, hardly next to nothing. Also, reserves of bars of gold earns no interest, they just sit in a vault. Brown turned this into cash to invest for public services, a perfectly practical thing to do. I would suggest that what Gordon sold off hardly compares to what assets Thatcher sold during her time and for which huge amount of the British public now struggle to pay to foreign owners. Oh, and open borders are a consequence of being in the EU, not a policy adopted by Brown.
  5. How about businesses simply cut their greedy profit instead? Eg, if a huge business makes 2 billion profit per year then why would it be wrong that they just make 1.8 billion profit after paying their staff more, as they should have done in the first place? Greedy businesses would simply price themselves out of the market if they substantially increased their goods.
  6. No, I didn't notice this. I was of the understanding that even businesses welcomed the min wage once it was introduced and the prophets of disaster didn't materialise. I don't think it is a good argument to not increase the min wage in case a burger gets more expensive.
  7. Absolutely agree. At the same time essentials such as domestic gas, electricity, water, vehicle fuel and council tax and even food has risen way out of kilter in comparison.
  8. There were scare stories about how the economy would crash when the min wage was first mooted and it didn't happen, your point on this sounds very familiar. Also, no business should be allowed to profit whatsoever without first paying all their staff at least a reasonable wage, let alone increase their profits! Finally, customers don't have the money as they are not paid a good wage to spend in the first place!!
  9. Which is essentially income tax. The two seperate deductions on a PAYE slip, Income Tax & NI, are both put into the same pot to spend.
  10. Recycling, especially household, is a con. Who benefits, financially?
  11. Unions of 300 and 500 hundred years are bound to throw up questions in today's world. An English only parliament would mean the end of the union. Which is why the west Lothian question remains unanswered, it has been around a long time.
  12. Who is "ours" when you refer to taxation? And Scotland's tax raising powers are currently extremely limited which would hardly make a dent and won't be much better come 2016 when more power is transferred. In any case, just as many economists will argue that lowering the taxation burden is more beneficial to those economists who take the opposite view.
  13. But Scotland has it's own law, as does England, and both did before the union. Neither countries were required to give up or adopt the other's law when forming the union. Why must that now be the case? And it is irrelevant what this Govt consider is the nature of the union or what they may want. It takes more than just the Govt of the day to change a constitutional union.
  14. I just use a businesses sales number, which is usually manned by people to hook you in, and they then connect me to the proper dept quickly. It rarely fails.
  15. What Cameron is essentially advocating is a non-violent, (at the moment at least), version of Russia's argument with regard to Crimea/Ukraine. An English historical claim to govern 3 other nations whilst ignoring constitutional Acts of Law, essentially what Russia have done.
