  1. They did say that the possible reason they weren't receiving payments from the key is because I have the wrong key, so they duly sent me another one, which is the same key as the one I had before!!!
  2. Hi, I'm in the middle of an argument with Scottish Power about my outstanding electricity bill (according to them) Bit of background, 2 years ago we were in debt with them by roughly £250 and struggling to make the payments to them. We agreed to have a prepayment meter installed with them taking £3.25 per week off to repay the debt to them. 2 years later we receive 2 years worth of bills (having not received a statement for the last 2 years!!!!!) with 6 different outstanding balances on them. Going through the statements I realize 1 years worth of payments were missing off my account. I gave them a call and they said they would look into it and call be back within 10 working days. I have received a phone call back from them today saying they had found that there were £420 of missing payments that had been found and allocated to my account, but I still owed them £297. I queried this as, obviously, I am on a prepayment meter, I pay for my electric as I go and I had been paying it off for 2 years. At which point they state that the meter hadn't been set up 2 years ago to take the payments of £3.25 per week and so I hadn't actually paid any of my debt off. But somehow in 2 years they hadn't noticed the missing payments and hadn't even tried to contact me to ask why I wasn't making any payments to my account. They then offered me a 25% discount, which I declined, as I believe I shouldn't have any balance outstanding on my account and that this is all Scottish Powers mistake. They then said they may be able to get me a 50% discount and would get a member of the complaints team to call me back. The complaints dept called me back and straight off offered me a 50% discount, which, according to them, is a higher amount than was originally outstanding 2 years ago. When I questioned this she said my balance outstanding was £730!!!!! When I questioned this saying I had only been told 2 hours that my balance was £300 she told me I must of misheard. When I still declined the 50% discount she said that she would review the case, again, and call me back on Friday. When I then stated about the code of practice for accurate billing for the fact I haven't received a bill in 2 years she stated that this only applied to new builds, which I can find nowhere within the document. I also asked for the address to send a S.A.R to them, which she tried 3 times to not give it to me but did eventually give me the address. I am now eagerly awaiting the phone call on Friday to see what else they are going to offer me. My questions are:- Does the code of practice for accurate billing only apply to new builds or is it for any customer no matter how old your house is? How can my bill still be going up even though I am on a prepayment meter, meaning I pay for my electric as I go and if I have no credit on my meter I have no electric. Thanks in advance
  3. Good evening, I'm after some advice regarding references for a new job. My current employer received a letter from a new job I have applied for (and got) today asking for a reference. The HR department asked me to go and speak to them and advised me that they are 'unable to provide a reference until I have handed in my notice of resignation'. Are they allowed to do this? My new job has said it is subject to satisfactory references amoungst a couple of other things, although I did phone them today and because they cant give me a start date of the training course I can't hand my resignation in and they said that I could still start the course but if my references came back bad they would terminate my contract. It is good of my future employer but I still feel my current employer shouldn't withhold a reference because I haven't handed in my notice. Any advice please?
  4. I have done this and I am pretty certain I have a case. I also spoke to my HR dept about it oday. here response was to say 'Try and talk to him about it!' So much for trying to get some unbiased advice from them!!!!!
  5. Good evening everyone, Just need some advice really. I have a problem with my line manager at my place of employment. History to it is that he chose me to go on an inhouse training course leading to promotion. Ever since he seems to have it in for me and basically keeps saying I'm not improving in the areas I need to improve on, no matter how hard I try but giving me no support, feedback or training to help improve these areas. Everything kind of came to a head on Tuesday, when he pulled me into a meeting room to 'talk to me' about a call he had listened to of mine. It basically was a case of every time he asked me why I had said something, he would shoot it down and say 'no, I believe you said that because........'. The meeting ended with him threatening that if he listened to another call like that he would kick me off the course, but also send me back to the team of trainees (the team when you first join the company). I have been in my job for 14 months now, and he knows that no-one would ever ake the humiliation of going back to that team and would rather quit. I feel that is what he is trying to make me do. Also, he hasn't followed company policies and procedures. Do I have a solid case for a grievance against him? Any opinions would be welcome. Thank you

  8. Hi all, Have received my statments from Abbey and know I have to send preliminary letter but I have just a couple of quick questions.Which address to I send my preliminary letter to asking for a refund now that I have all my statments? and do I start off with requesting the interest back straight away from this first letter? Also can I claim back counter fees from when they have charged me for withdrawing money over the counter rather than through an ATM? Thanx wulfinuk

  10. Thanks for that. I'll wait and see what the post brings in the next few days. I showed my partner what Abbey charged us in 3 months (£681.13) and he couldn't believe it. I never show him the bank statements or let him know about money as he panics too easily if we have little money.
  11. Hi all, I've been reading a lot about claiming you bank charges back so thought Abeey have charged me a lot over the years and I want it back as it is so unfair. Anyways, I sent of my S.A.R on 12th december and got a reply this morning. Want to know if this is what they normally send out. Dear Miss Hollands Thank you for your letter dated 12 December 2006, which we received on 15th december, requesting information on your bank account. I also acknowledge receipt of your £10 fee. I confirm that arrangements have been made for the information you have requested to be sent to you. The transactional information remaining on our systems, normally covering the last 14 months, will be sent out in the form of individual duplicate statements. You should receive these within 5 to 7 working days of this letter. (They actually arrived at the same time as the letter, god knows what my postie must be thinking) Any previous transactions have been archived onto microfiche and it is not possible to provide you with a computer print out of this information. However, we have made arrangements to send you a list of archived transactions between 2000 and 2005, under seperate cover. If you have any questions please call us on the above number. Yours Sincerely So what do I do now? Do I still only give them the rest of the 40 days to get the further info out to me? That gives them until the 21st January. I have looked through the statements they have sent me and added up the charges on there so far which amount to over £600 in a 3 month period. Any advice on what I do now would be most appreciated. Wulfinuk
  12. Hi all, I have seen other threads about telewest charges being recaimed and was wondering how to go about doing it? Where do I start? I have a long standing issue with them where I wasn't paying by dd because they wouldn't let me have my dd on a date I chose so was paying monthly by debt card and was having to pay the £10 late payment charge and the £4 non dd charge. How do I go about starting to reclaim the charges they have put on in the last 4 years? Wulfin
