  1. Sorry this is a little late to your post reply. I hope you managed to sort things out. Just in case anyone else stumbles across this post I thought I would tell you of my experiences with these companies/sharks. Just to give you a little background, myself and my husband were splitting up. He had started drinking a lot and had lost his job. Depression was creeping in. Our house had been on the market for 19 months and we had only had 3 viewings. I had changed estate agents and this hadn't made much difference. The house was shabby to say the least but I had spent all of our savings on paying the mortgage so didn't have any cash available for doing up my house. I checked a number of companies for prices online and got a varying amounts offered to me. They ranged from 60% to 75% of the original valuation. I think I made the mistake of using a bad Agent as the first price was definitely over valued. The second agent valued the property at 90% of the first valuation. It still didn't sell and I had to make some tough decisions. I opted to sell my house for cash and I got 75% of the original asking price which left me with enough money to make sure me and my son were safe. The money was cleared with in 17 days. Lessons to be learnt. Make those home improvements straight away to try and attract a buyer. If your Agent isn't any good, get rid of them straight away before your situation gets desperate.
  2. Clamping is slightly different as you normally have to deal with someone directly to get it taken off. It is sometimes a rather imposing figure that turns up to take it off. Past experience. The likely-hood of this happening I would imagine would be very low indeed. Love the letter Crodoc!
  3. Thanks, I have just written my SAR letter now and will be sending first thing tomorrow morning. Will keep everyone posted on how it goes. Thanks for the help!
  4. Thanks for the strong words of advice. I have had a look around the net and these companies basically do the same as I can do. I will write to them myself and see what happens. Failing that I can always revert back to one of these companies. I will keep you all posted.
  5. Thanks for the advice, are they less likely to pay me than if I go through a company?
  6. I can't believe the amount of money they actually charge. I bought my TV from there and I am still paying off the now. The TV cost £695 and the total repayable was £1234. I wish I had just saved the cash.
  7. Time will help, It might be a good idea not to get credit but to learn how to save your money instead. Trust me, I learnt the hard way. I had £40,000 worth of debt and felt like I was in a complete black hole.
  8. I have just recently had to move house and was appalled at the behaviour of my Estate Agent. I hadn't heard of an EPC and was told by my Estate Agent that I needed an EPC which was described as an Energy Efficiency rating on my property. This was a legal requirement and the house could not be marketed without one. I decided to look into this more deeply and went home to surf the net for advice. Sure enough, it was a legal requirement but the thing that struck me was the difference in price. Estate Agent Quoted me £99 + VAT I found a company online that carried out the EPC for £45 Inclusive of VAT. That is a saving of £75. I was in financial difficulty to and was glad that I could save the money. Lesson learnt, shop around. I used another company which were very good.
  9. I had a credit card years ago with the halifax, how do I find out what the policy number was and if I have a case? Help would be much appreciated on this one. Does anyone know any good companies or should I try and do this on my own?
  10. I to have been charged by Parking Eye for parking in my local Aldi store. They charged me £40 and I was about to pay as they said it would go up to £70 if I didn't. I luckily checked my bank statement and provided them with proof that I had been in the store and purchased shopping. They cheekily said they would let me off this time. I can't believe supermarkets would associate themselves with companies like these.
