  1. Whilst helping out with the paperwork after my Brother-in-law's recent death we have come across a so-called Accidental Death Insurance policy taken out through Barclays Bank, we know he made 141 payments @ £8.50 per month. We've been in touch with Stonebridge asking for details of the policy and we're still waiting for the info to arrive but have reservations as to their selling techniques. We know he went to buy a policy that would specifically cover his funeral plan, he had already been long-term diagnosed with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder) with Emphasyma had fully explained this when buying the policy in Barclays Bank, his daughter was also present during this process. Does anyone please have any advice as to how we should proceed with this, if at all, or wether we have a case for misselling?
  2. I'm on Carers Allowance topped up by IS, in Jan 2013 they sanctioned my son's JSA for not attending his sign on date despite them telling him not to travel the 7 miles due to the snow, a few weeks later they sanctioned him again for attending a course they sent him on, he ended up with no money for almost 3 months. Then he got a job, he was racially attacked and rather than fight them he walked away (he's white but all the other employees are Eastern Europeans) he went back to sign on again and they say he can be fast tracked = 3 months before he got any money due to them losing his claim 3 times (and they won't backdate prior to the claim being made) and then they say he's not entitled to benefit due to walking out of a job, he appealed the descision and they agreed he could get the JSA again. During each time they sanction him I have to pay rent and council tax, as they deem that someone with zero income can now afford to pay........... so add on the bedroom tax and 1 week of a fortnight I have less than a tenner to live on
  3. Oh well I filled out the Visa Transaction Dispute form and sent all my info in with it, got a full refund via that but with a warning attached stating that even though they agreed with my dispute the transaction dispute now gets sent to Swinton's bank, if Swinton refute the transaction and/or their bank put up a fight it could be taken back..........................fat chance accounts now closed just to make sure once and for all that Swinton never get the chance to help themselves to my money again
  4. Get in touch with the folks that caused this..........Swinton, the dca won't want to help as all they care about is their commission, you need to find out why Swinton has done this as it sounds like you thought you were insured but haven't been, wtf would have happened if you'd have needed to make a claim what would have happened then?
  5. Even if you don't renew your policy with Swinton chances are they'll auto renew it anyway and send you 'half a trees' worth of paperwork thanking you for renewing with them, even if you tell them you don't want their services they still take money, their employees lie and will tell you a lot of things to make out everything is your fault even if it isn't, as long as you can prove that you are insured they have no right to take any fees but it won't stop them, if you have a duplicate policy they have no right to take fees but it won't stop them, best off just leaving it and carry on elsewhere, but double check your account for Swinton payments anyway as they will help themelves. As for the debt collectors, I'd complain to their head office too don't let them get to you.
  6. I'd go straight into complaining as high up in Swinton as possible, they are useless and don't care that they cause problems like this, even if it is their staffs fault they will still treat you with contempt and make out it is down to you when it clearly isn't. Also keep a careful watch on your account as now they have your details they can and will just help themselves to your money wether a direct debit is cancelled or not.
  7. Makes no difference they will auto renew it anyway, take money out your account wether authorised to do so and then tell you that you owe them processing fees when you still don't want their policy, as long as you can prove continuous insurance you are meant to be OK. I never auto renew with the same company and despite having continuous insurance Swinton have still got £120 of my money stolen out my account for fees they haven't the right to charge, for a policy I specifically told them I didn't want.
  8. Well they have stolen the £120.98 from my account, I gave them proof of continuous insurance and they still helped themselves fraudulently out of my account, i have been down 3 times regarding this since they took the money, was told I was owed a refund but today got told 'Ageas haven't sent confirmation they received the proof of insurance so are you sure you sent it?' my reply was 'yes I am sure that it was sent from your fax machine 2 weeks ago', attitude changed then and he come back with 'have you got it with you now?', me 'yeah cause I always carry it round with me.......................you want to carry on with this messing around then fine I'm just going to go straight to the ombudsman and report you and your theiving company', their attitude sucks, Nationwide have given me a form to fill in to dispute the transaction so will let y'all know how it goes.
  9. If you just sit back and do nothing then thats what you'll get...................... so to ensure you have full rent paid you need to get back at them do not leave it for weeks as they will use the excuse that they don't back date a claim even if its their mistake or even if its the DWP's mistake they will always treat you as if its your mistake. Keep on at them until its sorted out, most times they will not notify you about stopping payments and you have to pester it out of them to get it sorted.
  10. I've been trying to lose weight for 17 years due to an underactive thyroid problem, last mid May (2011) I ended up in agony thinking I'd got appendicitis, was told it was possibly gallstones, whilst waiting 8 weeks for a scan I reasearched and totally changed my diet, I'd been blaming my thyroid for a few things that were diet related, 1 year later I have lost 3 stone (6 in total) with basic changes to my diet. Skimmed instead of full fat milk, no pork (includes ham, bacon etc), brown instead of white bread and rice, no cheese, added cous cous to my diet and used more basic common sense..............................worst thing was no chocolate or coffee, changed to decaf and bought some 70% cocoa chocolate = you can only eat 1 square and then its sickening lol Good luck with your surgery reallymadwoman
  11. What a load of tripe, I've got 3 kids had all 3 by C section, not 1 of them is obese in any way maybe if parents stopped feeding their kids rubbish junk foods and took their games consoles off them and made them go out to play and get some excersise they wouldn't be so obese.
  12. DVLA ignored SORN declaration and I was fined also got threats from a debt collectors for months AFTER paying the fine DVLA sent out tax reminders for a car that was scrapped over a year earlier, its still showing as SORNed Virgin Media for bullying my father into a new contract cause they moved house 2 months before a 3 year contract ran out, he died 3 months later and I cancelled it all then we got threats from debt collectors when he never even owed any money, the broadband speed was 500kbps on an 8GB contract which was pathetic service all round. Nationwide Building Society for putting my mum died when it was my dad.............................all direct debits etc were stopped and it took 3 months and almost 500 miles of travel for it to be sorted out.
  13. Every year I always shop around for my car insurance, I never auto renew it, my car insurance was due in mid May. At the end of April I got a phonecall from Swinton's Stratford-upon-Avon branch and I told him I was NOT renewing my policy with them as was not happy with how my policy had been dealt with or the renewal price, I'd got the renewal info a day before, he said it was the best price I was getting, my response was to again say I am not renewing my policy with your company. I bought and paid in full for a new policy with another company, a week after the renewal date the 1st envelope from Swinton arrived with my 'thanks for renewing your policy' and the documents enclosed , I phoned up and asked what they were playing at as I'd already told them I was not renewing etc etc, get told I have to return the documents and provide proof of insurance. The 2nd letter with the 2nd certificate etc arrived within 3 days, so I made a round trip of 28 miles, gave them their certificates and bumf back, they refused to print out my certificate which was the only proof I had as my insurers are online (my printers broken) they refused to accept the cert number as proof (most other companies do this OK), so I got angry and told them to f off and they were getting no money out of me for something I didn't want or ask for, I also told them I had cancelled my direct debit and warned my bank (normally I pay in full). Since this I have had a few letters mentioning about my direct debit, then they're going to reapply for my direct debit and now they want £120 for fees for this product I never wanted to start with.............................the saga is ongoing
