  1. It's part of the SLC and they are regulated by the FCA, she received a man entitlement letter for the year stating what she would get and when. They have since reassed and have admitted openly to a mis-calculation. Now I'm sure it would be a struggle to pursue the whole year reinstated, but a push to at least cover the costs they have said they would which have now been incurred. All the initial evidence and information given was 100% correct so a miss calculation of over £4000 is grossly negligent surely.
  2. I'm writing on behalf of my sister in law, she left school at 16 and had a family young. Now several years later with four young girls she has worked hard to get the qualifications to begin her degree. Due to my brother working she has had to place the two youngest children in child care, this child care and degree acceptance was based on (documented) information given by student finance stipulating they would offer financial assistance. After a torrid 6 months of chasing student finance, raising a family and studying full time she has received a letter informing her that they've made an error and she will not receive child care support, compounded by the fact that she is now required to pay back any finance paid previously. This has left her with debt from child care, money to repay, cancellation of her degree and all the other stresses this will bring. The main question here is does she have any cause to claim the money from student finance, as this was arranged on the proviso that they would assist with childcare?
  3. Hello all, I am seeking some guidance as I feel that EE are overcharging for international calls incorrectly! I will quickly set the seen, my friend is travelling Australia, and I decided to call her, I texted abroad to 441 as suggested (to reduce calls). Due to me setting off on a journey and poor EE coverage my message didn't send until after I had called! So now a £5 phone call is costing me £23+. The most annoying thing is EE are making you opt in to a cheaper international calls (even though it's free). Surely this goes against some kind of code of practice?!?!? Any help will be nicely appreciated. Thanks in advance Mike
  4. Is this true if it is a second price rise as I remember not too long back that my contract increased due to the inflation and stayed under the RPI. Surely two increases is breach of contract?
  5. The guy who has the role, was the one who informed him as he is a good work friend. The guy (who I assume is at risk of losing the job), said it is exactly the same job and doesn't understand by he was moved and someone external brought in to fill his role and why my brother wasn't contacted to go back.
  6. He was there for about 6 years, and worked a variety of roles. They eventually trained him up to a semi skilled role, which I believe has now been filled. Thanks
  7. Hello all, my younger brother was made redundant 8 weeks ago as part of a large redundancy.mthey followed all the procedures correctly (although the re-deployment offer was for a different job all together, different for his role and driving for which he has no licence). However 8 weeks on he has found out that a colleague that was made redundant from his (different to my brothers) role is now doing my brothers old role; and they have employed an external employee to do my brothers replacements old role. I know this is slightly confusing, but does he have any rights to appeal, he would rather have his job back then anything else. Thanks in advance all.
  8. Thanks for the response, I have already began to initiate this process. It is ridiculous if I am honest, I have had another area manager interview me for a similair promotion on the same criteria as my own. I am so frustrated as I like my colleagues (generally) and this has driven me to look for employment elsewhere, I just want to ensure that this issue is raised; and ultimately resolved for others. Alot of people talk about lodging a grievance against this manager, however back away or walk away and unfortunately for him that is not my mentality. Thanks again.
  9. Good evening all, a friend of mine refered me to this site as he uses you guys to resolve issues and has great success. I am looking for advice as to where I stand with regards to being denied the chance to interview for promotion, despite meeting the qualifying criteria. This is compounded by the fact the job was posted whilst I was on leave, and upon return the link to the application failed (even though thejob was only open for a week, and company policy is for two weeks). When the HR manager finally placed a manual application in for me the interviews had been held (still with in the two week period), I was contacted today by my area manager to state that I wouldn't be getting an interview (even though I am above the promotional criteria in the matrix they use). He infered that they already had a successful applicant and reserve, this is despite the job still being open in the two weeks. I am looking for advice and direction as to my options, this experience has made me want to leave my company as this is my area managers decision, I qualify for promotion and joined the company to porgress. I fell let down, angry, upset and frustrated, all I wanted was to build a career and now within the space of a 30 minute conversation I want any new job that is available. Thanks in advance.
