  1. I wonder if anyone can offer any advice. I have a weeks holiday booked in november which was authorised by my manager in april, my manager is now saying i may not be able to have this holiday as it's during a busy period (surely then he shouldn't have authorised it in the first place) i know that employers can cancel holidays in some instances and i haven't booked to go away as such but have arranged to visit family on the other side of the country but my issue is that at this stage there is no availability left for the rest of the holiday year for me to change to another week and my employer does not allow holiday to be carried over to the next year. Can they really do this? As this would result in me losing a weeks holiday? If they had brought this issue up sooner i may have been able to book an alternative week but there is now no availability.as they approved holiday that they shouldn't have and this was approved 6 months ago and cancelling it would result in me losing holiday that I'm entitled to through no fault of my own surely they can't do this? I will be speaking to a senior manager regarding this when im at work next and will also give acas a call but wondered if anyone has any advice or experience in this subject Thanks in advance
  2. ok hoping someone can advise here, my husband is currently at risk of redundancy, those made redundant will not be needed after the end of august, as my husband has been with the company for 11 years he should be given 11 weeks notice or paid in lieu of notice if not required. my husbands employer is telling him that they can make him work his notice at another site, can they do this especially considering that the other sites do not generally work on the same pay, hours or even the same job role as what my husband is on so don't know how they can make him do that. plus it would most likely mean him having to travel further which means more travel fares, can they do this? I thought if he was not required to work notice at his site doing his job that they should pay him in lieu? does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this and if the costs are more to him due to extra travel fares and considering that he would be under notice of redundancy can the employer make him do this and if so shouldn't they pay him for the extra cost involved too?? thanks in advance
  3. thank you for replying what would be considered a reasonable amount of time? I worked the overtime in july and would ordinarily receive the payment for this at the end of august but because of somebody making a mistake will now not receive it until end of September, to wait that long sounds unreasonable to me i have incurred extra expenses to work this overtime, extra travel costs, lunch costs etc i have also worked a lot of overtime in august which i should receive in september also payday is still 11 days away, surely that would be enough time for a company to rectify a problem like this
  4. Hi thanks for your response Contract doesn't state when overtime will be paid under pay section it says " salary will be paid in arrears on 28th each month" and under overtime section just basically says "you may be required to do overtime on occasion, overt time will be paid at basic rate up to 37.5 hours and time and a half for any hours thereafter" so does this mean they can pick and choose when to pay it as they have not stated when they will pay it
  5. Hi there, wondering if anyone can give me some advice on an issue I have at the moment I have been told today that I will not receive my overtime pay from july in my august pay due to a mistake made by my regional manager and will now receive it in September instead my question is can my employer withhold this pay for another month they are saying that nothing can be done as the cut off time for pay has passed but bear in mind that today is the 16th and I don't get paid until the 28th I find it hard to believe that this cannot be rectified in time for pay day any advice anyone can offer will be much appreciated
