  1. Hi Mina, No that is not what you will lose. What the current £25000 and the new 5k and 10k etc relate to is called 'income disregard'. Currently your household income is allowed to increase up to £25000 more than last years income without you incurring an overpayment ( ie, last yrs income was £17000, this years payment will be based on an income of £17000 but you are actually allowed to earn £42000 this year without it resulting in an overpayment). What the new Budget has done is, from April 2011/2012, reduced this 'disregard' bit by bit. If your household ususally earns a similar amount every year it shouldnt really affect you. Hope this helps, Anne
  2. Hiya, The reason thery have asked for your 08/09 income is that any new claim is based on the income for each applicant from the previous tax year. So although when you filled in the claim form it was the tax year 09/10, the form would have asked you for the income for both you and your partner for 08/09. When you completed this you have probably ticked the box to say they were estimated figures. When it comes to renewal time, at the end of the 09/10 tax year, the system will ask for all ACTUAL income figures for both years. It unfortunately makes no difference that you were not living together in 08/09. Once you have provided these actual figures form your P60s etc, the system wil look at 08/09 and 09/10 and pick the lowest one, so occasionally it can mean you were underpaid last year and you receive a lump sum back from HMRC.
  3. Hello, Yes the advisor you spoke to was correct. For you to claim WTC (working tax credit) you would need to be working at least 30 hrs per week OR working 16-29 hrs and disabled ie: receiving/recently received a sickness benefit like ESA. Im afraid JSA doesnt count as a 'sickness benefit'. So you would no longer be classed as being disabled and would need to work 30hrs min per week. If you started to received Disability Living Allowance, you would be classed as disabled...have you tried applying for this? A x

Try not to be concerned that yours hasnt gone through yet, we (the Helpline staff) have been assured they will all process around 31st July and the paperwork should be out within 2 wks after
