  1. Hi, Sorry to have came into this at the tail end but please listen up. The Police have advised there is to be NFA(No further action)end of. That is it.End of story. One of the other contributors is absolutely correct when they said that you should be banging on doors, that is exactly what she should be doing and NOW! I noted that you haven't mentioned her union involvement in all of this. I imagine that she is in a union, given her type of job etc. If so she should be banging on their door as well, using them as an intermediary between her and her employer. But it is vitally important that she takes the lead here and doesn't let the grass grow under her feet. I can also tell you that "Anus Horribilis" is totally WRONG when he/she said that her employers have probably seen the evidence, video etc. I'm afraid it doesn't work like that. She has confidentiality rights like everyone else and they would be breaking their own rules of conduct if they had access to the "supposed" evidence that has since been discounted. One last thing i would recommend and that is to find a very good "criminal work" only solicitor. You will not find one by contacting the CAB or other mobs like them. However may i politely suggest YOU fire yourself along to the magistrates court,i am assuming you are in England and speak to as many people as you can,by people i mean court clerks, solicitors who you will see darting around and, more importantly the accused themselves. They are more likely to be able to point you in the right direction of a good "Criminal only" solicitor. Getting the "right" solicitor is absolutely vital here so now you know what you must do,do it! And please post back here to let me know what happened and good luck, you have everyone, including th elaw on your side.
  2. I am right p....d off with Vanquis aka Granite et al. for no other reason than the amount of charges they have heaped upon me since i started with them 2.5 mth ago. My credit rating is pretty poor cause the DWP stopped my disability benefit for over 4 mths without due cause and as a result i couldn't pay my bills. My mortgage company went ballistic but were actually very good in the end, they even refunded me 90% of the overdue charges i had incurred. However,a lot of my creditors were not so forgiving and i went deeply into the red. Thus a bad credit file. Anyhow,to keep a long story short i got my monies sorted out with the DWP but was refused a credit card by a number of companies, that is until i tried Granite AKA Vanquis AKA god knows how many other names. I got a small credit limit which i immediately used up and set a standing order via my bank to pay them off at £25 per week. To my horror it appears that i owe them about £225 more than my original credit limit was! I was one day late in making a payment and i incurred about £35 in instant charges but when i phoned to complain they merely said that "You should have known what the charges were when you joined and NO you cannot have them removed" Well, that was the last straw,my card has been torn up and i have sent it to them by recorded delivery. I will pay of my account at £38 per week until it's cleared off and that will be the end of it. The only good thing that will come of it is that they will have to show the credit reference agencies that i am a good payer thus allowing me to get a better card with a lot less interest in future. Now,some people have been looking for email addresses for them. Well,i'm sorry i haven't found any but what i have found are some direct-line telephone numbers for their executive staff. People who have the power to get things done for us. I will give out Two numbers just now, more upon request only as i am still using some of the senior directors numbers myself. Anyhow, they are; 1/.James(Alex)Appleby,Collections team manager. 01634816768 2/.Evelyn Campbell,Floor manager, vanquis bank(Handles rpt abuse etc.). 01634816608 3/.Vanquis main number/call. Press 1 to be transferred to an operator & call back svce. 02080450076 4/.Freephone number for vanquis. 08000192516 I have deliberately held onto the directors direct-line numbers until i myself have dealt with him then i shall gladly share it with those who request it. I would also love some feedback from anyone who i have helped by being able to provide these telephone numbers. Just remember, don't let the b......s grind you down. Good luck, Derek Edinburgh
  3. Hi, I am in a similar position to that of ur friend.Let me tell u what i would do if i were you/her. First of all,if u really are in a position to help her out with the arrears then do it and do it now! Pay off the arrears "before" the hearing date and make sure u get a receipt from the mortgage company. As far as automatically stopping the repo is concerned, i would bet my life that it would stop the eviction dead in it's tracks no matter what the mortgage company want to have happen. U will find the court to be very sympathetic to her cause and will help her but only if she tells the truth "Always" and doesn't falter on any payment plan they may decide to order. Don't be afraid of the fact that there is going to be a hearing. In some ways it's better because it takes the decision on any repo away from the lender and gives it to the judge and the last thing he wants is to take someones home away from them. A word of warning regarding fees and charges; You will find that the lender has probably slapped a dose of charges onto the mortgage account. They are hard at it when this happens .Ask the judge to negate these ridiculous charges,in fact ask the lender to negate them BEFORE u pay off her arrears. If they are genuinely interested in helping her keep her property they will have no problem in negating those scandalous charges. If they refuse, pay off the arrears but include an accompanying letter detailing that the arrears are being paid "With reservations". Also, without being asked to, start payments to the mortgage company every week, even if it's not the full amount pay something, anything. Last but not least, even if she does win a stay of execution, what is her long term plans? If she really cannot afford the mortgage would she not be better selling up and getting either a council/HA flat or a private rental until she gets her finances in order. It seems to me that she might be better doing a strategic retreat so to speak, get her finances in order and then come back at them again for another mortgage when she can safely afford it next time. Meanwhile, tell her to protect what money she gets from the sale of the property (if she does decide to sell it) and be very careful with what liquid capital she has surplus. I hope this answer has been of some sort of help. Regards, Derek Donaldson
