  1. I find it odd that you seem to be complaing on the one had about people who you think are getting benefits they shouldn;t be and then you go on to say you support people who try to avoid paying their income tax. Do you not see the contradiction in that?
  2. DLA may be just assessed on a yearly basis or every few years but ESA for many means an assessment every 6 monts. Any way DLA is soon to be changed to PIP which has a tougher criteria and I don't think from what I have read that many people who currently work and claim DLA will be eligible to claim PIP. Many people though have medical conditions which will not improve just deteriorate and don't you think it a waste of public money to keep reassessing those individuals. If the Government would use its zeal for tackling tax avoidance in the same way it goes after benefit fraud I wouldn't have a problem but it seems to have a tough law for the poor and a lax law for the rich.
  3. Why do you assume that there are too many people who get sickness benefits who shouldn't be, particularly when DLA has one of the lowest fraud rates of any disability. I am sorry that you have terminal cancer but I wonder if you get your DLA disallowed if you will still be so complacent.
  4. Hi can anyone tell me if it is usual on a six month shorthold tenancy for your landlord to come round and inspect it every 3 months.

Tell every one else to sign today Write to the Speaker John Bercow and ask him not to authorise this misuse of procedure in closing the debate down in the Lords. We could all contact John Bercow and ask to make sure the House of Commons don't. Rt. Hon. John Bercow MP Speaker’s House House of Commons London SW1A 0AA email: [email protected]
  8. Could everyone please sign the above petition as the Sparatacus Report whilst it did achieve a lot did not ensure enough MP's backed the change for a pause re DLA so it is more important than ever to get this peition the 100,000 it needs, it now has over 22,000.
  9. Repeated testing for people whose health will never improve is wasting tax payer money. It should not be beyond the wit of Governement to put something in place that once a person has had a proper medical diagnosis along with a follow up check from another party that the person could be registered as never having to undergo an examination again as he fulfills the criteria.
  10. If you don't like what the Government are doing re ESA and cuts etc then help fight back. Sign the save disabilities and services petition supported by carewatch and a number of other organisations - http://carerwatch.com/reform/ 4709 people have signed it in the first two weeks so please sign and try and get something done, don't be so defeatist - http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/20968
  11. Exactly why I said some people should have no further need for a medical examination - unless the Government knows who is handing out miracle cures.
  12. There are some illneses and disabilities which should be a life time award as it is obvious they will never improve and it is just a waste of money to ask these people to have an annual medical as well as causing needless stress. Also it is not just the honesty of the claimants in filling in the DLA forms as they usually have to be backed up with consultants and Doctors reports. DLA is an acknowledgement that those on benefits for a long time need more financial help than those on JSA which is basically a benefit which gives you enough to scrape by on until you find a new job, but is not meant to sustain someone for years. DLA is also a way of providing extra support for those that need that extra help to be able to work. It should be kept totally separate from ESA. Although I suppose that although they are saying they are changing DLA to PIP it is probably just a stepping stone on the way to Universal Credit where they will probably get rid of it.
  13. People who complain about people on benefits getting money for nothing should think there but for the grace of God. Contrary to the Governments spin most people on benefits are not from a generation of scroungers but are unlucky enough to have become unemployed or have become disabled usually after a life time of working or paying taxes. Most people also paid NI stamps which is supposed to provide a safety net for when you are out of work.
  14. Sorry I was replying to the thread in general not you in particular. As to how the programme makers got the persons confidential information I have no idea except that it appears nothing is confidential any more.
  15. The Panorama programme was just another attack by the Government on those on benefits especially the sick. They are trying to demonise the sick even though they promised to protect the most vulnerable but they know if they can get most people against them then people will not object when they cut their money. They are already informing Doctors that when a person is ill the Doctor has to tell the patient that they will feel better if they can stay at work rather than take time off to recuperate. Doctors are now the mouth piece of the Government whatever happened to the hippocratic oath and putting the patient first. Don't fall for the propaganda you may find one day if you are every sick or have an accident that you wished you had supported those on benefits particuarly those that are ill and disabled.
