  1. Another one. Apparently this has been hushed up for about three months. They're working through their majority quite fast with all the sackings. Not that they've done anything about Menzies yet but he sounds like a blackmail risk. Here's the original article. Revealed: Tory MP allegedly demanded campaign cash to pay ‘bad people’ ARCHIVE.PH archived 18 Apr 2024 07:32:33 UTC
  2. Apologies, I was looking in the wrong place for the letter. It sounds as if dx has seen the unedited letter, hopefully he'll be able to reassure you when he gets here later. But as I said, if it isn't headed Letter of Claim [Used to be Letter Before Action] then it isn't one. HB
  3. Tangliss, if you can't upload the letter, could you tell us what the heading is please? My understanding is it should say 'Letter before claim' or similar. HB
  4. We've never seen the police turn up weeks after the event. I'm not sure we've seen them turn up on the day either. HB
  5. Awful people. I hope the same thing happens to all the CEOs and other directors who let innocent people be prosecuted.
  6. If you click on the letters SAR in your post or mine, you go to a new page that explains what to do and has a template letter. HB
  7. Thank you dx. To add one thing to what you said, a court fine can be paid in instalments unlike any OOC settlement with TfL which will need to be paid on the spot. We've always said to take cash along, I don't know if they have card payment facilities nowadays. HB
  8. dx explained the court day in post #40. As he says, as you've pleaded guilty, it's more about your mitigation about why you did it and I believe your financial circumstances so they can decide on the level of any fine. That's the time to try and explain your financial and other positions if you have a criminal record. HB
  9. I don't think I've ever seen someone appeal a mags court decision on fare evasion, JK, but as you say in this case TiredDodo has pleaded guilty. It is possible to challenge, as below. HB Appeal a magistrates’ court decision: Overview - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK How to challenge a decision by a magistrates' court. Including how to get a fine reviewed, if you did not know about your case, how to appeal to the...
  10. That's a shame but not unexpected. I'm not sure about your assumed questions because I haven't been to court but I'm not sure about not accepting a criminal record. It could be a language thing but it isn't your choice unfortunately. HB
  11. HMG is looking to sign Rwanda type deals with Armenia, Ivory Coast, Costa Rico and Botswana according to the Times. Revealed: UK targets four countries for Rwanda deal ARCHIVE.PH archived 15 Apr 2024 01:55:06 UTC
  12. Could you update us please and answer dx's question? HB
  13. I think we need more detail, craigten. In terms of reclaiming it may not be too late if the policy was missold but we need to know what type it is. We need to know when the policy was taken out and why. Normally I would expect there to be proper paperwork to as it's been required for many years. I hope you can get hold of details because a friend's gran is quite a distant relationship for us to advise. Could your friend or their gran sign up here perhaps? HB
