  1. If it was a sub post office it wasn't a Crown establishment. Sub post offices are privately owned shops who provide post office services. They're basically a franchise.
  2. Good advice. I was made redundant in a similar situation and got a bigger payout from the statutory redundancy scheme than I would have done from my ex-employer.
  3. I get free scripts and eye test already. I suspect that claiming for 2 quid a week will cause me a world of grief. Thanks for all your input folks
  4. I've done the 'are you entitled to this' thingy on the gov.uk website and it says I'm not entitled to pension credit. As I said in my original post I'm wondering whether being signed on gives me access to any training or other non-monetary benefits. I'm resigned to the fact that I won't be getting any cash out of the goverment. Why should I? I've only been paying tax since I was 17
  5. My situation: I'm 64 and have been ill for a few months with blood pressure problems which the Doc says are now OK. The job I had was quite a physical one working 50 hours a week. I don't think I'm capable of doing it any more so I've resigned of my own free will. I have a couple of small private pensions which will mean that if I do sign on I will only get about three quid a week JSA. My question: is it worth signing on at all? Are there any other benefits (not money but perhaps training or other facilities) that I'd get that would be worth the hassle? If I could get some interesting training out of it I'd be happy to sign on but if I'm going to get bureaucratic grief but nothing else I'd rather loll about in bed late every day
  6. I read that as your 'Sky Talk Rental Discount' ended on the 23/6 but all the other services were stopped on the 22/7.
  7. Sorry ads - I didn't realise you'd already spoken to the court. Brigadier - Considering how devious Hart appears to have been in his dealings with ads I was just urging caution on ads's part. Don't worry. I won't do it again.
  8. I'd be very wary of H actually having discontinued if I were ads and I'd make sure with the court that it's actually true.
  9. Excuse me for butting in but what number did you call the Met on? Was it the same number as the woman 'DC' gave to you or a different number?
  10. I'm quite familiar with the way that Keepsafe works as I use it often. I suggest you re-read my post above which is a direct cut and paste from the Royal Mail website. Keepsafe lasts a maximum of 66 days and is delivered to your house when you return. There is no facility for Keepsafe pick-up from a sorting office. If you want to pick your mail up from a sorting office you need the PO Box service. As an aside the Royal Mail is required to give the street address of any PO Box when asked by a member of the public. The only time this is not true is for the likes of women's shelters where an endorsing letter from the Police or a similar body must be produced.
  11. From the Royal Mail wesbite: Setting up a Keepsafe™ request We need only five working days to set up your Keepsafe™ instruction, which can last for up to 66 days. Complete the Keepsafe™ application form with the names and signatures of everyone whose mail you want kept. If you’re a parent or guardian, you must sign for any children under 16. We will not hold mail for anyone whose name is not specified on the application form, or any mail without a name (for example, ‘To the Occupier’) These items will be delivered as normal unless you specify on the application form that the service should cover ‘all individuals who receive mail at this address’. Looking after mail that requires a signature We will keep Recorded Signed For™ items for one week and then return to sender. We will leave a ‘While You Were Out’ card with your Keepsafe™ mail to let you know they were received and returned. Items sent by Special Delivery™ will be kept, if appropriate, for three weeks after the expiry date of your service. Perishable items will not be kept. Redelivering your mail on your return Just tell us when you want the service to end and we’ll deliver to your address on that date. If you return early from your trip, you must send a written cancellation note. Your mail will then arrive with the next available delivery. If you experience any problem with mail we have kept, you’ll need to claim within one month of the incident to receive compensation.
  12. That sounds more like a PO Box facility. Keepsafe has a maximum time of 66 days and normal delivery of your mail to your premises (including all that has been kept safe) recommences on a day of your choosing. Royal Mail do not allows pick-ups.
  13. They provided me with an excellent unlimited dial-up service for two years without any complaint. On the one occasion when I needed to talk to support they had my problem sorted out within 5 minutes.
