  1. yes. But the stop took place in a differnet location, I never went anywhere near the stated location that morning.
  2. Hi, bit on emergency. In court in two hours. Was planning to pleased guilty and beg for the smallest amount in fines. Statement of fact reads: oOn the 13/7/2001 the defendant used an unlicenced mechanically propelled motor vehicle, reistration XXXXXXX at [location X]. The previous licence expired on XX/X/XX The problem here is that that location is nowhere near where I was stopped by the police. What do I do about this? I could call witnesses as a friend drove past while I was stopped. But its a bit late now. What do you advise? I know some of you guys love to fight the bastards, but I'm trying to just save myself grief here.
  3. I have an old debt from a local government employees credit union that I am being chased for. its in the order of £200. At the time that I left employment and moved away i didn't leave a forwarding address. I totally forgot about the credit union and would have been able to pay off the debt along with all the others I paid off at the time with cash realised from the sale of my house. A few months ago an old friend from work got in touch with me through facebook. After a few pleasant exchanges of messages he told me that he was now an officer of the credit union and he'd been asked to chase me for the owed money. Since then he has got increasingly threatening, and while he doesn't have an address or telephone number for me, he did get my email address from my facebook page. To me it would appear that he has not acted in good faith in this regard. Also, he has been in touch with my local council and as I have a fairly distinctive surname he is now claiming that he will send letters to an address my council have given him. They have only given him an address attached to my surname because of data protection but there are several members of my family living in the area. He has threatened to write to the address he has weather or not it is my one. I'm concerned that legal action could involve members of my family and cause me considerable embarrassment. I'd love to be able to just pay it off but I can't afford it and now frankly i'm so angry I just don't want to let them win! Is there anything I can do about all this?
  4. Hello I also need help with bailiffs calling to collect council tax. It turns out they are billing me for 12 calls to my property in my absence at £25 each, they apparently justify this because I have 4 separate outstanding bills - I have moved house a lot in the last few years. The total amount comes to about £2500. I have absolutely no savings and earn about £800 a month, which is entirely spent on household bills, I haven't had a luxury item more expensive than a chocolate bar in years. I have written to the firm offering to pay by instalments, I thought I could manage to scrape together about £25 a month, any more and I would be unable to keep up with rent. The firm replied saying that this amount was totally unacceptable. Thus far, the bailiffs have not gained entry to my flat, and I have not signed anything. Can I write directly to the council? I understand that if I'd got in touch with them sooner I could have got my council tax bill reduced, is it too late to have the total amount owing reduced retrospectively? What should I say to the council, are there any template letters available?
