  1. Nobody got anything at all? No experience with the different types of insurance or the providers? Hope somebody can help. Regards, J.
  2. Hi, I've been doing lots of research lately and found this site: Mortgage Payment Protection | Help, Advice & Explanation of Policies. On the quote page you will find two insuers who are underwriten by Legal & General (I'm thinking about signing up with them ...offereing 3 months free ) but for income payment protection over MPPI because I want to protect more than just my mortgage if I get made redundent. Anyway it says on the web site that ALL occupations are considered. Hope that is helpfull. Cheers, J.
  3. thanks for the advice I'll get in touch with them this aft and ask. I'll post back with the results. Cheers, J.
  4. Thanks I'll get in touch today and post back with what I find. This is getting out of hand. Appreciated mate. J.
  5. Hi I have a small problem with a Direct Debit taken out of my account by British Gas for £340. The problem is that I recently switched my supplier to utility warehouse but on my previous statement Britsh Gas mixed up my meter with that of a neighbour & when i recieved my final bill it was nearly 1000 units over what it should have been (due to mixup) meaning my bill was £340. So I contacted British Gas to alert them with the new reading and inform them that it was due to wrong meter being read. Now they said that they were unable to do anything about it until they recieved a new final reading from my new supplier (and I should inform them of the mixup dispite it being British Gases erroe) but agreed to put a stop on my account till this had been achieved. OK I though, not a problem. Now I came to my account and the money had been taken regardless so I went to the bank (Lloyds TSB) and had them submitt an indemnity request under the direct debit garentee which I was told would be back in my account my the end of that day ....4 days later and I have yet to recieve a penny. When I went back into the branch I was told it was been investigated and would take 10 days!!!!! Now due to this stupid error I am now overdrawn and after informing my new company of the error and the correct reading it seems that BG actually owed me money. Can I force them to speed up this payment? Can I claim bank charges from BG for breaking our agreement and making me overdrawn? Legally where do I stand? and does anybody know why its being investigated (I was told under the DD mandate the bank would pay the money back then claim it from BG). I'm a little confused and well P*ssed to say the least not to mention out of pocket for the month and will have to trasfer money from my saving if this is not resolved soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this is the wrong forum plaese move it. Thanks in advance, J.
  6. Hi all, I've recently been thinking about getting some mortgage payment protection insurance due to worsening recession (as far as I know my job is safe but you never know) to protect my home and my family if I am made made redundant. Now for the problem, I have a done a fair amount of research on the topic and it would seem british insurance, CPP direct & protection on line are the best accident sickness and unemployment (ASU) insurers for MPPI but I found this website: www.mortgage-paymentprotection.com which has some very useful tips on the types of cover supplied by MPPI but at the same time they also introduce income payment protection as a good alternative (as does a channel 4 artical on the website) which can be apparently extended to include mortgages (but this seems unnecessary since the payment is tax free and designed to support your lifestyle which I guess would include your mortgage). Now I'm a little confused as to which I should go for . Does anybody have any real world experience of either? Could you confirm weather income payment protection needs to be extended to cover a mortgage? In addition to this there has been talk of increasing premiums associated with mortgage payment protection due to increase in the number of claims. Does anybody know if this also impacts income payment protection? The website I found has a nice little comparison table on it and I'm tempted to just go through them and get some quotes (its free afterall ) ....any advice? Thanks in advance for any help or advice that can be offered. Regards, J.
  7. The value of your laptop is negligable at best ....to buy it again today, the cost to you would be small. If its in your home most of the time chances are you would be covered by your contents insurance anyway but check the 'small print' as always. Google came up with this little site (not quite finnished yet but has some good advice) and could be helpfull: Advice on Home Insurance: Insurance and Claims Advice for Homeowners, Landlords, Tenants & Students If its not covered under your contents you could if offered by your provider, insure the item as indevidual item at a small extra cost. Good luck. Cheers, Paul.
  8. Hi all, This is some really scary stuff ...you never think that it can happen to you. I know from now on I will be bearing the IFB in mind and never ever taking any claims at face value. Just shows how green I am. Thanks for the tip. Cheers, Paul.
  9. Hi mate, I think you might be in the wrong forum but never mind. You do not need Buildings insurance as a general rule as this only covers items that cannot be removed. You do however need contents, however not sure about what it says in your contract with the landlord so I would check it. I was just looking for advice on my contents insurance and found this lovely little resourse on google: Advice on Home Insurance: Insurance and Claims Advice for Homeowners, Landlords, Tenants & Students This answered alot of my questions on interest payed to an insurance company when paying installements and also about tips on making a claim when me and my girlfiend had a little snaffoo so give it a try, they have a lot of tips and pointers. Cheers mate. Paul.
