  1. Hi Mich No problems, and even better news for us is that Southern Elec called me today to tell me that we qualify for there maximum discount off both gas and elec at there newest rate of 20%..... So even better, I suggest we all call our suppliers and ask them, if they dont offer it then find one that will and move your supply to them... So there 17% price rise of recent doesnt mean a thing to us now...... Good luck Mich and I hope they get you what we all deserve, a chaper cost of living... JG
  2. HI Thanks for the information I have just called our supplier, Southern Electricity who supply both our gas and elec. They have e-mailed me a form as they means test anyone and once completed if you qualify they give a 15% discount on both services..... We are now getting this discount, so maybe a liile cheaper but without this site I would never have known this..... Thanks
  3. Hi I am asking for some advice as the DWP are driving myself and my wife mad with the delays..... Our story is a simple one and here it is... We have a daughter who has Cerebal Palsy down her right side due to be being born at 26 weeks and weighing in at a tine 1 pound 14oz... She was not supposed to survive but did and is now 11 years old and in her first few weeks of senior school. Anyways, we were in receipt of DLA higher rate and middle rate care allowance. They awarded it in 2003 for a 5 year award. We are in the process of renewing this claim and we have been asked by the iddiot on the phone from the DWP is there any chnace she will be cured in the forseeable future.... Is this the mentality of the idiots in these government departments that this disability is curable.... If so can anyone tell me where I can take my little angel for help.... The DWP are now writing to all her consultants asking is she really ill...... Why is it then that the have given her a 5 year award and then now think she is now all better.... The diability is for life not a few weeks..... Can anyone advise us where other than the CAB, her OT and the consultants we may be able to get advise from as they have so far taken 18 weeks of a so called 11 week process to still be unsure if we are trying to claim for something she is not entitled too.... My daughter is now to be classes as "NORMAL", whatever that is, as they now state they have 9 levels of Cerebal Palsy and she is only at around group 8 so that means she is normal..... WTF..... if she is normal why does she have walking aids, hand and leg splints.... Still having Physio and doctor treatment.... Injections of botox to build her right leg, steriods to support her spine.... Is all this really necessary then if she is NORMAL..... Please I hate the DWP forms, and we are now having to appeal can anyone advise us..... Thanks
  4. HI New to this forum so be gentle.... Thought I would add our little knock to this thread... About 3 years ago my wife And I bought our first brand new car, a shiny black Ford Focus 1.4. We were pleased with the car, though a few teething troubles. Anyway, we were out one day and it had been raining so the roads were a bit slippery. We stopped at a junction to wait for a gap in the traffic when a mini hit us in the rear end. Not hard but enough to shake is up a bit. The driver was very apologetic and admitted blame as the road was wet. We swapped insurance details and the only piece of damage to our car was a cracked bumper. We rang our insurance company "Royal Sun Alliance", who approved us to take the car to a local repair centre. We made the appointment which was for the following week and used the car as normal. We about 10 days later took the car to the repair centre and were given a cup of coffee whilst the engineer took the car into the shop to take a look. He came out and asked us to follow him as he was shocked at the damage underneath. Now, remember I said it was a small crash, and the bumper was cracked.... well it turned out that the floor had crumpled, the spare wheel had been crushed, and the rear axle was out of alignement. Basically he refused to allow us to take the car away and after a few phone calls to the insurance company we were given a courtesy car and ours had to remain at the garage for immediate repairs..... In short this small bump cost the guys insurance over £1300.... So maybe the bump was genuine.....
