  1. Correct. And I am aware of the fact that BH target the poor. Just the same for the medium well off and the rich. In the end though it all boils down to self control. Yes SOME staff are unscrupulous and accept any joe blogs, however the store I work in are very picky about who we accept. If we have ANY doubts at all about a persons ability to pay we do not allow them to join. Personally I would rather Brighthouse did not accept people who are fully reliant on benefits to avoid some situations however that is up to the Head Offices not the staff. And it does not help that some people here clearly state they have Bad Credit. And yes Bright House also allows those people to take out HPA's however it is also those same people who do not help matters none. In the short time I have been working I have seen atleast half a dozen people lie on their applications with fake telephone numbers, with references to people that want no association with them and that lie about their income. Worse still I have first hand seen some folks RE-selling stuff that isn't even theirs. In the end though it all boils down to self control. And to be honest the people that complain here and possibly many other places are the ones who want everything for free (essentially) and are way too quick to jump on the "I'm A Lawyer & I'm Gonna Sue" bandwagon. If Brighthouse was such an extortionate/dodgy business then how the hell is it still operating a good 5 years on? Surely the Trading Standards would have shut it down long before now. If they see no problem; neither should Sue-Mongerers like yourself.
  2. And that has what to do with forced entry? If the claimant was on holiday at the period in which his/her goods was stolen the Burglar must have either A) Forced their way in (provided s/he locked up of course.) or B) Had the key. Now if the burglar had the key yes the claim may still be valid, however it is unlikely that a pickpocket can steal a key AND know which house it opens. Also in the case that the claimant accidentally left his/her house unlocked whilst on holiday and was thus stolen from, well matter of factly its their own darned fault. Meaning Well; Artie
  3. That applies to EVERYSINGLE insurer possible Lefty. Even your Home Insurance will state that.
  4. People allow themselves to be misled. SOME not all people are greedy, wishing to acquire items they know they cannot afford. The attitude of the staff who work at the company is dependant on the store. Don't brandish that stick at ALL staff. The additionalpolicys are two. OPTIONAL Service cover, and Damage Liability Cover. The DLC HAS to be taken if you DO NOT have Home Contents Insurance. Its brighthouse taking out their OWN insurancepolicy as they don'twant you coming back saying "Sorry my house caught fire, you can't have your item back." Anyway I am sorry you have had a bad experience, however these forums are also misleading. Allyou will ever read here is people complaining about BH. You will never hear from the thousands of happy customers because well theres nothing to complain about. Its easier to whine than it is to praise. Its apity my other thread got denied it explains alot about todays society and their ready willingness to blame anyone but themselves for their lack of selfcontrol w/regards to contracts. If you were in ANY doubts about joining BH you should have just said "I'll think about it" and then leave. Worked it out yourself then decided. You only sign the contract out of four things. Greed, Pressure, Need & Lack of Understanding.
  5. Well as cruel as this may sound even though your personal world stops when something as major as that happens the rest of it doesn't.
  6. Thankyou for this lovely post. Now I work for BH, only recently though. I have no intentions to stay however my last job was also a tar on my CV. However Brighthouse are not as bad as some people make out. Yes the prices are high, yes the penalty for late payments are high and yes they can be very Unyeilding at some stores. However that is what happens when you sign a contract. People need to spend more time reading into things than getting greedy and impatient.
  7. FYI - I assume she did'nt take the Optional Cover then? Bright House can also FREEZE accounts when this is taken out. If that is the case then she should have notified them that she had optional cover thing and ask if they can freeze it for a while. Im sure they would have.
  8. Here's some HELPFUL advice unlike the poster above. Calling the police and lying stating that the Collectors have threatened you with violence won't work. Brighthouse work with the police, and are quite often accompanied by them for "difficult" customers. Now the situation depends on whether or not you wish to continue payments or not at all. Eitherway you need to have taken out their store cover. You can either send back the item (therefore not incurring the 50% charge w/o cover) or request a Collect & Hold. They will remove the item from your possesion and when you are able to resume payments (within 1 year) you can do so. Your current payments are FROZEN and no payments for that SINGLE item need be made. If you choose to cancel you will lose out on the money already paid however that is a loss you sometimes have to accept. When you go into a HP Agreement with Brighthouse you are actually RENTING the item until the time period is over THEN and only then does it become yours. --------------------- Also in further reference to other posters 1. There is NO Brighthouse model for laptops - How ridiculous can you get?! 2. YES By LAW you get a Minimum of 1 YEAR cover on all purchased goods HOWEVER the Optional Service Cover lasts the WHOLE DURATION of your renting which is usually 2-3years / 100 odd weeks. 3. Also those saying you dont need to buy the Damage Liability Cover. Only if you DO NOT have Home Insurance. How would you like it if you lent out your Xbox360 to a friend and their home got flooded ruining your Xbox360? Its the same for Brighthouse. You are renting THEIR product. Its not yours yet. EDIT: If you truely HAVE been threatened by a collector notify your local store. They can root out who your assigned Collector was and the appropriate discipline can be actioned without jumping on the "I'm A Lawyer" bandwagon. Sometimes asking works before shouting.
