  1. I signed off JSA to take a job in August 2012. Unfortunately in December 2012, I had to leave my job due to ill health (I have lupus and suffered a major flare up at this time). I have mainly been living off savings and family support up until this point, but this week after getting the all clear from my doctor, I have started looking for work again. Am I eligible to claim JSA again, or will I be sanctioned for leaving my previous employment? When filling out the application form online, it asked whether I had been working in the past 6 months, which I havent, so no details were asked of my previous employer?
  2. Ive been claiming JSA for just over a year....currently on Work Programme. After suffering with a multitude of symptoms for over 3 years, I have recently been diagnosed with a growth on my spinal cord which will require surgery at some point in the very near future. Im totally at a loss with how to proceed benefits wise.....when should I change over to ESA if at all? I have no idea how long recuperation will take after surgery, with my Dr providing me with a " you will either be fine and continue with life as normal, or we teach you to walk again..." answer Also as I am part of the Work Programme on JSA, does this mean I continue on it when claiming ESA?
  3. Can you get sanctioned for not attending an interview for a job found through the Work Programme? Back in November, I applied for a vacancy advertised through G4S (my work programme provider)...on Monday of this week, I received an invitation for an interview for said job on Tuesday (today). I imeadiately rang the company to advise that I had only just recieved the invite (letter appeared to have been round the world and opened a few times!), and that I already had an existing hospital appointment and could the time be rearranged.....company agreed to try and rearrange and would phone me back.....meanwhile I sucessfully rearranged my hospital appointment to earlier in the day where I hoped I would be able to attend and then head off straight for interview... Unfortunately things didnt work out that way......hospital appointment started at 9am, and I finally left at 2.30pm....completely missed my interview Imeadiately rang company, who were very understanding, and begged for a re arranged interview.....sadly that not possible. Now I am worried sick that I will be sanctioned for not adhering to the Work Programme. Will G4S check up with the company and then inform the job centre, or will the company themselves notify G4S/Jobcentre?
  4. Been on the Work Programme since Dec last year with G4S......not had any problems thus fair, infact they have been very helpful. Recieved an email today of an appointment they have made for me to register with a recruitment agency. In the first place, I absolutely loathe agencies, as have signed up with so many of the past year, and heard absolutely nothing....infact I have already registered with the one G4S have made an appointment with.... I dont want to register again, so can I refuse to go, or will this be seen as refusing a job, even though there is no job (purely a speculative visit)?
  5. Regarding JSA and sanctions,my question is are sanctions only imposed on jobs that JCP have advised you to apply for? If you have found the job of your own accord, can a sanction still occur? I apply for a lot of jobs via the JCP website, do the job centre contact employers who advertise on there to find out who has/has not applied?
  6. I have recieved notice this morning that I am to be sanctioned for not applying for a job the job centre provided me with. This is all very well and good excpet I did apply, and have a copy of the email to prove this........will this go in my favour if I appeal?? Also how long am I expected to wait for a decision from the decision maker?? Do I carry on signing on in the mean time? Will I still recieve payments??
