  3. Thanks dx. I did call the bank yesterday and they advised that they are unable to get my money back as it was a subscription service and they cannot refund. I am going to ring again and tell them I've lost my card to stop them taking a payment next month,
  4. Hi there I am looking for some advice. Back in February, I was contacted by a company called Click On Marketing Solutions who said they could promote my new business on Google to create extra traffic to my website. I had just set up my own Childminding business and was seeking new customers so this seemed like a good idea. I paid the fee and they would promote my website for 30 days. I could stop and start the 30 days when i wanted. Use a few days here and there etc. I eventually got some customers so I decided to stop my days and start them up again coming upto the school hols. They phoned me a few weeks ago asking if I wanted to continue as I had 15 days left so I agreed. I then checked my bank account yesterday and on 24th July they had debited me for £118.30. I phoned them straight away as I only signed up for the 30 days. It was not explained to me in the initial phone call that I would be debited once I had used all my days. I spoke to an advisor who advised yesterday that I am supposed to cancel my subscription by giving 30 days notice or I will be debited each month. Now none of this was explained to me when I signed up. He said that he emailed me the t & cs when I signed up which he didn't. So initially I paid for 30 days advertising when I signed up so if I have to give 30 days notice to cancel then I would lose any remainding days I had left which I have paid for? I have cancelled this yesterday but he says I will more than likely be debited again next month as I have not given 30 days notice. I cannot afford to pay this. I feel like I have been misold this as none of this was explained to me from the start. I have emailed the bloke I spoke to twice yesterday and he has not replied to my emails. He is quick enough to call me when he wants my money but when I have a complaint he doesn't want to know. Please help me as this debit has now put us in the red. I hope I have explained myself well enough, it is all very confusing. Their website is [edit] Many thanks
  5. First of all apologies if I have posted this in the wrong subforum. We are getting married at the end of October in Worcester (we live in Birmingham). We are only getting married in Worcester as I found an amazing deal on Ebay for the wedding breakfast/reception which would've saved us a fortune in comparison with other venues. I won the auction and was over the moon with what we got for the price. Visited venue - Perfect. We then proceeded to book the wedding at a castle in Worcester which wasn't far from the venue, booked the registrar, chair covers, cars etc....all of which have been centered around the venue in Worcester and deposits have been paid. The venue called me last week to say they had some bad news for us, they were closing in September. It is a country pub and basically the brewery have been messing them around by increasing prices etc....so they have ended the lease. They have had to cancel all their weddings. The girl offered us 3 options: 1. We could wait to see if they get a buyer (not a chance - too risky and we don't have the time) 2. Full refund 3. We could transfer the package to their sister hotel, a few miles away. We have already booked the hotel out for the night for guests to stay and it is lovely. The only problem is they can only fit 40 guests in the restaurant for the sit down meal (we have 61!!). So, she said they have a marquee which could be used so we could get everyone in and this sounded like a good idea to us. We went to visit the hotel yesterday and she showed us to the marquee which wasn't how we imagined. It was dirty, the carpet was filthy, the marquee poles on show. It just looked more like a cold plain dirty circus tent if I'm honest. Not suitable for a wedding. The girl got a bit funny with us saying that all the other couples she showed this to have been pleased with it. I would be embarrassed to take guests there tbh. She offered the marquee to us for £500 as they would have to hire a kitchen, staff etc... We really thought they should pay as they have ruined everything for us but they have offered us 18 bottles of wine for the tables as an apology. We expressed our concern about the marquee and she said she will email me this afternoon to see if they can do anything to make it look nicer (drapes, fairy lights etc...). I am basically wondering if we can take this further with anyone? My partner has lost all trust in this venue so if she says she can do something to the marquee, he will not take it as something else could happen down the line. We have been looking at other venues in Worcester and they cost a few thousand pounds. We won this for £512.00 for everything. I don't think we will find anything in Worcs so it is more than likely we will have to cancel and rebook everything in Birmingham which we will lose our deposits for everything. Where do we stand legally? I have no written contract from them, just a receipt and details of the Ebay package. Sorry this is so long xx
  6. I took the cat back yesterday he has sorted the airbag and seat belt and has cleaned off all the oil but has found no leakage, he is taking the cat out today for a 10 mile drive and if no further oil leaks he says it will be fine. I will take it back to my own mechanic though for a double check. Thanks for your advice
  7. Thanks everyone. Sorry, I know nothing about cars. He is a trader, we went to his house and he had about 15 cars in the back. He has a website and runs the business with his dad. I have just asked my OH and it did have an MOT (7 days left on it) Sorry I gave the wrong info. It had no road tax. I think we will try writing to him. Thanks Claire
  8. Evening everyone Last weekend we brought a car from a private seller. He has a business of selling cars. We did a part Exchange on my partners car and got this car. It had no road tax or MOT so had to get those done straight away. We took if in for a service also, as I am a childminder so I will be using it to transport children (its a 7 seater). The car needed 4 new tyres, one of the seatbelts is faulty and the car has a huge oil leak and the garage is not sure where the leak is coming from. £500 later.....!!! I am just wondering if there is anything we can do? We thought the seller seemed a bit dodgy but we were in a rush to buy a bigger car. He must've known the problems with the car. It is still going to cost us lots more money to sort the oil leak and seatbelt out. Is there anything we can do with regards to the seller or should we just cut our losses? Thanks Claire
  9. Hi there Thanks for your reply. I'm afraid I have no paperwork as it was so long ago. I think the loan was over 3 years so it would've finished 9 years ago. Do you think it would show on my credit record, if I join Equifax? Thanks
  10. Hi everyone I had a loan 12 years ago when I was 18 and I am not sure if I paid PPI on this or not. As it was such a long time ago, I thought I would try my luck and find out if I did pay any. I wrote to Barclays in December asking if they had any details of my loan and if they can see whether I paid PPI or not and they have written back to me saying that as it was such a long time ago that I took the loan out, and it was before they became a part of the General Insurance Standards Council, they have been unable to retrieve any details of PPI charges made to my account. Is there anyway I could get hold of my policy No from this long ago or should i just cut my losses now? Many thanks Claire
  11. Hi all, Looking for some advice. My mom is a nurse in a care home and she worked at a home for 14 years which ended up being closed down whilst they investigated the treatment of the residents. My mom was arrested and brought in for questioning, as were all the other nurses that worked there but they were released as there was no case against them. It was against the management. Mom has been for an interview this morning at another care home and they have offered her the job, however she is really worried that something will come up on her CRB check. Any idea? She was arrested. She was never charged or cautioned. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
  12. Hi Just thought I would let you know that we have had our interest only application declined today. Our bank told us that they are only offered as a very last resort, we fitted all the criteria last week for the application, now they have declined. Very stressed. Hope you get the answer you are looking for
  13. Really hope somebody can help us. I will give you the background.... We own an apartment (have a repayment mortgage) and I am having to relocate to another city with my job. We will be renting in the other city and applied to our bank to put our current existing mortgage onto interest only (we have the flat up for sale and have already dropped the price by £16k, can't sell as there are so many apartments round here) so we are looking at renting our flat out. When we rang the bank last week, we gave them all our outgoings etc...and they said we fit the criteria to go to interest only. We explained the situation to them, that we will have to pay for rent AND our mortgage and can't afford both etc... Now we have been told that our application has been denied, on the basis that we CAN afford it. The only thing they can do for us is to extend the term of the mortgage so that it will be slightly cheaper (still can't afford this payment, it is only £70.00 less than we pay now, the interest only was over £300 less). Is there anything we can do about this? We have all the stress about moving house, jobs and now this. I told them we can afford to make monthly payments of £420.00 or we will cancel the DD. No help whatsoever. My partner has been a customer of theirs for over 20 years, and we are at our wits end with this. Please help...
  14. Thanks Buzby. I didn't think I would be entitled to it tbh, but never mind, it would've came in useful. Thanks anyway, might try the letter approach.
