  1. Hi After so many problerms with bright house i contacted the financial company which owns them, and basically told them i was disgusted and demanded that a manager of caversham came to my home now a manager didnt come but i had my original problem with bright house sorted i will be ringing these guys again and demanding they sort out my other problem now details are: Caversham Financial Ltd Chiltern House, Marsack St, Caversham, Reading, Berkshire RG4 5AP Tel: 0118 946 6040 ring them and ask for their complaints department.. and don't be fobbed off stand your ground Hope this helps xxx
  2. sounds like you are having a huge nightmare hun my thoughts are with you....as far as his asthma etc goes can you get a note from school to say that he cant do the things children his gae normally do and from yopur doctor to say how bad it is or health visitor? again all i can say is keep fighting they thrive on people backing down and giving up, they don't like it when peole keep fighting and tbh showing their inadequecies they lost my paperwork so many times was unbelievebale also remember when you are going to tribunal you are entitled to see the full file they have on you/your son, and make sure you read it very thoroughly especially check dates copy all letters you send them and keep all dates clearly marked it is funny how things disappear with them liz
  3. ok i am pdoffs wife it was a laptop computer the circumstances were as follow, i have a disability which makes my back suffer with sever poain and i end up paralysed i had just walked into the sitting room with a nice glass of red wine to relax on the couch as was feeling a bit sore when my legs completely gave out and i collapsed and unfortunately the glass with the wine in flew and went all over the latop, we telephoned bright house immediately the next morning and thus started all this nonsense, now bright house telephoned me on wednesday morning at 8.30am as i have not paid apyments on my laptop since it went to the store * as i do not have the laptop in my posession* and was told if they dont repair it etc i won't get it back... i told the man phoning at that time basically that i wasn't impressed and i was going to complain to their head office at the timing of their calls and also that they are less than truthful with people and that i was NEVER told about the excess etc on the policy and so on an so on, he then telephoned at 9am on Thursday ( yesterday) and informed me that the manager of the store would use his discretion and "waive" the excess amount for the laptop so long as i brought ym account up todate ( i owe 2 weeks so no hardship), so i asked why if it was store discretion was the excess added at all because if peole cannot afford their excess they would simply cancel their contracts which they say you can. He coul not or would not answer me so now i have to decide what to do about laptop, maybe they waived the excess because theyre scared of a lawsuit i will keep all updated as and when i can Also for anyone who read my post about the fire that they would not accept my cash for when it was all sorted and they had wiped off what was owed... i have now made them take it back, needless to say they werent happy but they had no choice
  4. Hi i like this forum i applied for dla for both myself and my son at different times, and got different rtesults at different times let me make the cloudy water clearer for you I applied for DLA for my son on the advice of my health visitor when he was 3 years old as he has a vblockage in his bowel and i am forever chanigng bedding throwing away clothes due to the huge amnount of laxatives he was on (15mls at THAT time) i received middle rate care dla for him and that has not changed dispite him now being almost 10 years old and the problems is worse ( 60mls min of laxatives a day) numerous weeks off school due to sever accidents due to the over flow issue he now gets but dla basically have said we cant get any more cash even though he is now having to have help over and above the help a "normal" 9.5 year old needs but as i know from my case continue to appeal again let me explain I woke up one day in severe pain in my lower back my gp informed it was a "mere" kidney infection gave me antibiotics and went away 2 days later i was admitted to hospital in a worse state and 3 days after that woke up paralysed from the waist downwards, the paralysis is not permanent but when i get severe pain in my back which, unfortunately, i now live with permanently my legs again stop working as does my bladder and i need catherterising and other help ( including getting dressed) well stands to reason i applied for dla as when paralysed i can dfo NOTHING, i was turned down!!!!! i appealed got turned down again and thought that there was nothing i could do there was no ifnormation on further appeals etc, then i met my partner who persuaded me to claim again, again i got turned down i appealed and i got higher rate mobility and nothing else, again i appealed by now we had looked into appeals and knew we had a case, i appealed after continuing to appeal i lost my higher rate mobility??? Eventually i got the chance to go to tribunal i took it i received my mobility back but only receive low rate care, and basically got told to stop appealing thats all im going to get??? my moral i suppose is keep appealing go for tribunal if nothing else i got i got my award back and it was back dated to the beginning of the claim which amounted to several thousand pounds... Don't give up they don't like it going to appeal or tribunal but if you are entitlesd to dont give up... yes it is hard and also to be frank demoralising but worth it in the end.. now i am going to continue to fight for my sons care to be changed as he needs someone to be with him when goes to the loo etc to help him when hes having a bad day and most 9 year olds certainly dont need that. Carers allownace is a tricky one.. i claimed this for my son when i had to stay at home and look after him when i was a single mother, however, when you recive carers allownace which is roughly £180 a month it is taken off your weekly incom,e support allowance so tbh although you do get extra money at the end of the month you dont really, you get a subsidy on your i.s due to recieving carers allownace but lose £50 a week as it is paid then by another department.. Hope some of this helps a bit
  5. Hi I found this site when looking for informatin on brighthouse's insurance as the time has come when i need to claim on it and no joy so far... I "bought" a fire from bright house in August 2006 from Southampton. Whilst living there everything wasfine my story begins when i moved from Southampton to Wales. I went into the Southampton store and gave them my new address informed them i was moving and paid 2 weeks to cover the moving period, 2 weeks later i rang Southampton to pay the weekly amount to be told that as i hadmoved away from Southamtpon i was no longer their customer but Swanseas so i dutifully rang swanseato be told we dont cover your area ring southampton i did this for several weeks each time Bright house refused to take any money from me, i had no reminder letter no threrats etc.. what i should have done then is to walk away and say o well i tried but i didnt i wrote a very strongly worded letter to the company who owns their finance within 3 days i began to received many phone calls for payment from Southampton, i then explained i couldnt talk in work but would ring them in my lunch break i gave them a time but when i rang no manager this happenedseveral times. eventually we connected and i was told she would transfer my account to llanelli.. my nearest branch. but that i was responsible for the arrears. to be honest i laughed and said no chance i had tried to pay and they didnt take my cash ergo their problem not mine. I then got a call from llanelli branch to go in and sort this i did i signed a new agreement and had all the arrears and some extra as a good will gesture wiped off. But... i wouldnt have had this if i hadnt battled to pay them its a ridiculous scenario Cinderellas servant in wales
