  1. Hi, My car was due in for an MOT, it failed (last Sat 7th) on a roll bar link - booked it in to have it fixed yesterday (12th), the garage is next door to where I live, but they take it to their bigger garage to MOT the car, we dropped the car off yesterday and went home, we were looking out of the window and saw my car being driven away but the window was not right - only way I can describe it is it looked like it was opened upside down, rang the garage straight away to be told the window had came off its runners when they had opened it and was being looked at. Received a call 2 hours later to advise the car was ready for collection, it had passed its MOT, when we questioned the window we were advised the window regulator was broke and would need to be fixed yet they were not willing to pay for the repair, they offered to cover the labour if we paid for the part. The window was working perfectly well when we left it with the garage. After phone calls back and forth it was obvious we were getting no where with them. I collected my car paid for the work we had agreed to, when I got back in the car, the door hadn't even been put back together properly - screws weren't fixed in place. I just wondered if anyone knows what my rights are on this, I put my car in for a roll bar link to fitted and I've left with a window which doesn't work. Thank you in advance.
  2. My brother and his wife booked return flights to Dubai in March for a friends wedding in December, they paid the balance of £1100 off on the day of booking. They went into the travel agents at the weekend to check on the car hire details only to be told there was an outstanding balance of £1100 to be paid which they said was a surcharge which had been added in May, no invoice or letter had been sent out. The travel agents have said it states in the terms & conditions that surcharges can be added after booking. A surcharge of 100% doesn't seem fair. Has anyone heard of this before??
  3. Hi, If you still have your finance documents there should be a section givin you info on your right to terminate the agreement, it normally gives you the figure which needs to be paid, generally it is the half way stage. I used to work in admin of the motor trade and all of the finance docs I saw had this. I handed my car back half way through an agreement with 1st National Motor Finance and my brother has just done so with Black Horse. Hope this helps.
  4. Forgot to add, it states on the back of the notice if she wishes to challenge the notice to complete the section and sign the declaration - you must sign the declaration for it to be considered. They are also threatening prosecution and a fine of £5,000 if you make a false statement.
  5. My friend has only today received the notice to owner/keeper (nearly 2 months after the ticket was issued) the notice claims to be a legal notice, stating that as the registered owner/keeper of the vehicle it is her legal responsibilty to make payment. I am just double checking is it this point that we send the 1st of the letters out of the templates? My friend is worried as it states again that a County Court Judgement will be registered against her if she does not pay.
  6. Thank you all for your responses. I have received the ticket off my friend so I could have a look at it. On the back of it there are various points, but 2 which stood out most to me;- "Part 7 Administration/Lawful Issue" "The parking charge has been lawfully issued and the collection procedure will be processed in accordance with The Administration of Justice Act 1970. A number of Government organisations such as the DVLA, operate a working code of practice to which Northern Parking Solutions adheres. To ensure constant lawful and ethical business practice, such organisations are granted access to assess and review operational procedures" "Part 8 Police Only" "If this parking charge notice is presented before a Police Officer with reference to payment, it is important the Officer does not discourage payment. When in receipt of correspondence on Police headed paper, Northern Parking Solutions will be happy to respond to the Police and answer any questions put forward or issue information requested by them. Please allow 28 days for reply" On a seperate note, last night there was car parked from approx 7pm and was still parked this morning when I left at 7.30am, no permit and no ticket - seems a bit odd considering the ticket my friend got was at 11.15pm at night! I'm more convinced now its one of my neighbours/residents association issuing the tickets on behalf of this company.
  7. Hi, This is my 1st post. I have read through the "sticky" at the top ref private parking companies, however I am slightly confused and in need of some advice. I have recently moved house into an apartment, each apartment has its designated parking space they are all numbered, we then have 6 spaces with a "V" the vistors spaces. There are signs up stating Private Permit Parking only, then near the visiors section there is also a sign which "Private Residential Parking". We are renting the apartment, on moving in out landlord gave us a visitors permit which I use, my partner however doesn't have the resident's permit yet (he parks in our numbered parking space) but has never received a ticket. On Saturday evening a friend of mine visited me (approx 8.15pm) and parked in one of the visitors spaces, she left at 11.30pm only to find a "Fixed Parking Charge" from Northern Parking Solutions had been left at 11.15pm. The parking company are employed by the building management company, the building management company are employed by the residents association who appear to set the rules. I do think given the time the ticket was issued and the fact my partners car without any permit wasn't given a ticket, that one of my neighbours/members of the residents association is the "parking warden". The signs do not state that visitors need a permit, they do however say by parking you agree to the contract. The apartments are located across from a school, so I completely understand why they have made it private parking but I think to issue tickets at that time on a Saturday evening is ridiculous. The ticket is for £60 if paid within 7 days, then it raises to £85 once they have obtained details from the DVLA after 14 days then it says you will receive a polite reminder and it will increase to £140, failure to pay will result in court action, court costs added and bailiff's being instructed to remove and sell goods. Does she have to pay this, will she be taken to court?
