Problem with Virgin media after Fathers death.
ashmk replied to just_jue's topic in Digital TV Services
First off is the account now in the lady's name? Are the letters addressed to her? If not, call them again and inform the account holder has passed away and to terminate the contract. I know you already done this but if they have not actioned it then that's their tuff titty. If they are in her name, call them and tell them that you will be terminating the contract due to the price increase. Now they will offer some discount to stay put but it'll be a poor discount. Continue with the termination and in a week or so you'll get a call from the organ grinder that will give you a decent discount (If you want to stay) or just start again fresh with someone new. I recently had a price increase from £31.50 to £43 for broadband. I followed my old tried and tested routine and now pay £25 a month. -
Skip Company Refusing To Take Skips
ashmk replied to dankeep85's topic in The building trade and installers
I think you need to contact them, explain the situation and come to an arrangement. They will not want to take your waste away for free. They will eventually just come pick the skip up and tip it out on your property to get their property back and then you have to start over again. Not worth hassle. -
Skip Company Refusing To Take Skips
ashmk replied to dankeep85's topic in The building trade and installers
Tough spot. Skip companies are pretty tight knit so another wont move it, you cant drag in onto the road as that's fly tipping. The skip company wont want to foot the bill to tip the waste and that's completely fair. I think your only option here would be to pay the bill, after all it's still your waste and you need it gone. The skip company could I guess, eventually come collect their skip minus the contents by tipping it where it currently stands. Not ideal but I think the easiest way to settle this is pay the bill direct to the skip company, put it down to experience and move on. -
Tell them your not paying apart from the agreed amount and your calling the police regarding the rest. They are not not stupid and won't want to be on the police's radar. It'll be a case of they tried it on, it didn't work so they will move on. Stand your ground, I bet he will take the 120 and you'll never hear from him again. They are just chancers and they know when the games up.

They sell salvaged cars at auction. Did you go to view the car before you placed a bid?

I don't think Facebook care about you or what you think but you are triggering their spam algorithm with your constant reporting and use of words like 'scammer' so it's reacting to you. Reporting scammers is a waste of time, for every one that gets dealt with 2 will pop up in it's place. It's better the devil you know. Find another past time that makes you happy.

I love how they have put a copyright notice on the letter! -
Using phone whilst driving - even though I wasn't!
ashmk replied to Hair Bear's topic in Speeding and Motoring Offences
I completely believe you that you wasn't using your phone. But, take the course and move on or you'll be wasting an untold amount of time and money on this and it's not worth it. -
New Landlord and New Contract
ashmk replied to wannagetadvice's topic in Residential and Commercial lettings/Freehold issues
I think what's important here, regardless to the LL's financial agreement with the mortgage company is signing that contract will make no real difference to your rental security, if anything it'll give you the edge to being more secure. Why would they go to those lengths if they were just going to evict you? And as for eviction there is a procedure to follow so if this did happen come back and the forum can advise. A LL can ultimately evict you for any reason weather they tell you that reason or not but there are rules and they have to be followed. I think you'll be ok.
