  4. Thanks for your quick reply, its a mail order debt that I defaulted on as OH lost his job, I have been paying 5.00 per month, then I increased it to 10.00 per month, it has now been sold to Lowell, every month I have been getting letters saying that I have not contacted them and most of the time I write back telling them that I am paying every month, the amount is decreasing in the letters they send, I have tried to claim back the charges but no joy, I was going to pay what I owe but not the charges. and today have received this letter stating that they will accept £ nil . This has been going on for about a year now. Thank you for moving to the correct forum.
  5. Hi, I wonder what to do, I have an outstanding debt which I am paying a small amount each month, 10.00, they keep sending letters saying that they have yet to receive a proposal from me, but now I have received a letter from Lowell stating that they want to resolve the matter offering to reduce the amount to £ and no amount next to it. and to contact them within 30 days if I want to accept this kind offer. The amount outstanding is over £500 I have started to write a letter stating that I am happy to accept, will I be winding them up, or shall I get in the post quick ?
  6. I am hoping someone can help as I am very confused, as I think this is wrong. I have a car on finance and wish to change it, the garage in question was very pushy, I informed him that my car has some outstanding finance on it, now this is where it gets interesting as he said he will have to find out how much the settlement figure is, he then left me and returned with all my details on a sheet of paper that had been faxed to him, stating my account number, settlement figure, last payment amount, I thought data protection stopped anyone accessing my private details without my permission or is this the norm!! I did not question this untill I went to another garage and was told in no uncertain terms that this was not normal practice, I know about HP1 but the details given (as I understand it) dont include account numbers and the exact amount owing on finance, just that there is outstanding finance. Before I complain I need to get my facts right. Sorry this so long, Jools
  7. Thanks for your replys, I knew someone would help, I will send template letter M, this is just the right letter. Let you know if/when we hear anything more Jools
  8. Help, I thought I could do this myself but need some help now please, my other half started getting letters in Jan from Lowell, regarding a debt they said was owed to Barclaycard, they traced us from an address we were in 8 years ago, we have since moved 3 times, all this time no contact. We did ring them before we read this site, dont worry we didn't give them info only stupidly to say that we now live here.the only info ah got was that it was for a debt owed from 14 years ago, now we cant remember having a credit card then, as ah has never had a credit card. Since then we have ignored numerous letters from red, I have sent the first template letter stating we have now knowledge of this debt in Feb,had a reply quoting accounting number and last amount paid but no date. We are now getting letters every 2 weeks and now phone calls, 2 today, I answered the first one,no info given, but will not answer anymore. If ah did owe anything why didn't Barclaycard contact us 14 years ago. Sorry this is a long thread but now at a loss what to do. Thanks for any replys, jools
  9. We are having a dispute with British Gas and have been since we moved into our new house 6 months ago. our supplier is Southern Electric but we keep having bills coming from B/G after spending hours on the phone and sending letters I had been promised no further letters would be sent,no such luck, they keep coming and now they coming to disconnect us this week, I have had enough now,I'm not wasting my money with phone calls anymore and am just going to wait until they come to disconnect. They have even confirmed that this bill is not for our address. Any ideas how to stop the letters? I think I have done everything possible but obviously not. I will let you know what happens when they come to door,I just hope I am in.
  10. Info please before I start to claim charges back again,I have stupidly racked up a few charges again since claiming some back approx 9 months ago, they are charges of £12 for late payment fees usually 1-2 days late( really must set up a direct debit) Has anyone claimed charges back a 2nd time and will they want to close my account as I couldn't pay off my account all at once. Thanks Jools
  11. Hi Dolly remember me we took on Nationwide almost at the same time,I have been reading your thread with interest and just wanted to give you my support, dont give up you have got this far. As soon as I have all my info from Nationwide regarding my previous mortgage I will be starting action as well. Jools
  12. Advice please,I have received another goodwill gesture from cap 1 of 40.00 after sending letter before action, shall I send another letter giving them 7 days for the balance of 300 without interest or carry on with moneyclaim as the time was up 14 days ago,not sure what to do for the best. jools:-)
  13. if it doesn't go in by tomorrow, send c bacon a polite email reminding him that moneyclaim wont be cancelled untill paid in full, thats what I would have done anyway. Spent a bit,but put rest into savings account that hasn't seen anything for a few yrs.its just nice to know that you have something to fall back on .how long it will stays there remains to be seen.
  14. you will proberly find another amount credited today.
  15. In 2 lots, with a couple of days inbetween,I still cant work out why they split it because 1st amount didn't match anything, but then they paid in the rest again paid in 2 lots but on the same day,put in as correction.I have now rung moneyclaim to cancel action so all done and dusted. Not yet had a letter closing my account but not bothered as I wont be using it anymore. Still got cap 1 to finish, how about you anymore? Jools:)
