Hi,long story short.

In june last year we lost our council house through eviction. Been sorting debts after finding this excelant forums, any way recieved letter from council regarding rent arrears. I sent a S A R letter to them also giving them my new address , today i recieved the following letter again cut short.

"Dear Mr oldman123

In order for your re quest to be processed, (in accordance with part ll section 7 (3) of the said act) i would need you to provide a proof of identity such as your passport or drivers licence.

For this reason ,i would like you to bring your proof of identity to our office for verification. I would be grateful if you could contact me to make an appointment."

We've had to do that. They just take a photocopy as proof of id and give the original back.

As it is the council and not a dca, I suppose it is a reasonable request, after all, you wouldn't want all the information an Subject Access Request brings to be sent to just anyone would you.
