| | Basic Account Customer | Shaz vs Lloyds TSB * * WON * * Hi, I just joined today (thank God I can read!), and I'd like to share my problem with you to see if anything can be done about it.
In 2006 I took out a bank loan of £2000 for my wedding. The final payment date for that was Feb 2006. In 2003, I was contacted by the bank offering me an additional £300. I took it . I was soooooo happy this feb just gone thinking that my loan had been paid off. Only for the bank to tell me that the additional £300 I took out in 2003 won't be paid off until Feb 2008!!! The Total = £1750............thats nearly 6 times the original amount!!!
Are they taking me for a ride??
Is there anything I can do about this?????
Please help. |

Can anyone tell me how I can do this please????
I sent off an e-mail a week ago to claim back bank charges.....got the automated "we have received" response. Yesterday they sent me the letter saying they are "unable to agree to refunding my money" so now I want to work out how much interest.........

| | Classic Account Customer | What exactly happens when you try to download the spreadsheet?
Do you have Exel or a compatible spreadsheet installed on your computer? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but I don't know your level of expertise on a PC. |

| | Basic Account Customer | Hi Dammam,
Thanx for the reply.............I got it sorted out! Thankfully. Turns out from July 02 to date I've been charged £1,146.44!
After calculating the charges what do I do next? I asked them, today, to provide me with my previous statements dated back to 2000. What happens next??? |

| | Classic Account Customer | Wait for the statements to arrive. On current form they'll tell you that they normally charge a fee for this service, but in the circumstances are waiving the charge.
Whilst you're waiting for the copies, familiarise yourself with all the posts in the Lloyds thread - time consuming but it will prepare you for the next step and hopefully give you some confidence for the weeks ahead. Time spent in preparation is rarely wasted.
Don't forget the FAQs too - although it appears that you have already been there.
Once the statements arrive, update your spreadsheet and get a copy of the letter from the library where you ask the bank for the refund of the illegal charges within 14 days or else you will proceed along the small claims route without further notice.
Good luck. |

You can start by familiarising yourself with the FAQs and Library, and having a read around the forums. Once you have it all clear you can start your own timetable to recovering these penalty charges. It's a good trip, and great fun too, and there are lots of people here who will help you out and give you loads of support.
Good luck. |

Dear Sir/Madam,
I find myself in the position that your actions require my intervention for the [HOWEVER MANY] time in the space of a few days. I am seriously reconsidering my view that [BANK] has the capacity to act as my fiduciary in a responsible and lawful manner, as implied by the terms and conditions between both parties.
[WHENEVER] I received a statement from [BANK], stating their intent to unlawfully apply penalty charges to my account on [DATE]. These charges are to the sum of £XX, as well as an interest penalty of £X.XX for the 'privilege' of this unlawful action being undertaken.
As you are aware, I have asked you to demonstrate to me that these punitive charges are fair and just, that they are lawful, and that they are being lawfully applied. You have failed to demonstrate this to date, and therefore it is implied by your refusal or inability to supply such demonstration, that these penalties are, indeed, unlawful.
Therefore, I would draw your attention to the following point: you have stated that these charges will be applied on [DATE]. If these charges ARE applied, then you will be required to explain why you have, in my view, committed a pre-meditated breach of the law, and I will be reporting such breach to all of the relevant authorities.
However, as this has not yet happened, I require that you take action forthwith, and cancel this transaction prior to its execution. Furthermore, I require confirmation, in writing, that this transaction will, indeed, be cancelled.
I shall be checking my account on [DATE], and if I see that the penalty charges, plus interest, have been unlawfully applied to my account, I shall lodge a claim at the county court to recover these charges, plus my costs and interest calculated at 8% APR, without hesitation. Furthermore, I shall require that you confirm whether these unlawful charges have resulted in a default notice against my record with credit reference agencies, and if so, I will seek appropriate action to have this notice removed.
In view of my first paragraph, and considering your apparent incompetence to act as my fiduciary in a lawful manner, I will start to consider a course of action whereby I may seek redress for all the inconvenience you have caused me.
