| | Classic Account Customer | KAZZAW v LLOYDS TSB ***SETTLED IN FULL*** Here goes folks!!
Just printed off my Data Protection Act letter to send by recorded delivery in the morning.
I'm very nervous about this but have been reading the posts on the forum & it's given me the confidence to have a go.
I've also got a joint a/c with First Direct with my OH. Can I apply to them in my name only or do I have to send something from my hubby giving me permission to apply for both of us?

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: KAZZAW v LLOYDS TSB You can just select and delete all the existing data in the spreadsheet if you want, before you start typing in your own - just don't delete any of the formulae in the last 2 columns.
However, if you've got Excel there is a way you can get figures, descriptions and dates into the spreadsheet without typing them all but, unless you've got a lot of charges, or if your not comfortable with Excel, typing could still be the quicker/easier option! I only know about Excel, but there may be a similar method in other spreadsheets.
First, download your statements from LTSB online, back to July 2002. You can only download 150 transactions at a time, so you may need to do several downloads, using a different date each time. When downloading, select the "CSV" format.
When you've finished downloading, copy paste all the data into one large spreadsheet.
The data will be in CSV format (Comma Separated Values). That means each item of data in the row is separated by a comma, instead of being in separate columns. But you can convert it to columns as follows: - select all the data (it will all be in Column A)
- click on the "Data" menu, then select "Text to Columns" from the list
- select the "Delimited" radio button, then click Next
- check the "Comma" box, then click finish.
You should then find all the data is nicely separated into columns, as normal for Excel.
After that you can sort/filter your data to isolate your charges (all your charges will be identified by "CHG" in the third column - but that will include any normal monthly charges, and overdraft interest, which you aren't claiming back) and then copy/paste them into the interest spreadsheet.
Well I did say typing in your figures might be easier! |

Good luck |
But if you find that you have to begin a claim then you should probably start the claim as joint claimants. We have had at least one bank object to a claim on the basis that only one partner of the two joint account holders was named as claimant

I'm thinking of leaving the First Direct joint a/c claim until I've got further with the LloydsTSB a/c which is in my name only. I thought it may be more complicated for a joint account & I also want to prove to my OH that it works before starting with FD. He's a bit dubious at the moment!!

| | Site Team The Consumer Action Group | Re: KAZZAW v LLOYDS TSB As far as being more difficult for a joint account claim, it's not. It's just the same.
As far as turning your other half into a believer... well, that's a different matter!

I will be starting a new thread for the FD claim.
Just been looking at the Data Protection Act letter template. Would it be OK to leave the wording as it is & both of us sign it or should I amend the "I" to "We" etc? |

do a search for just the charges for 3 month periods.
highlight all of the info and copy/paste them into cells on the right of the spreadsheet after to formulae.
highlight the description, date and the ammounts and drop them into the spreadsheet. |

| | Classic Account Customer | Re: KAZZAW v LLOYDS TSB Very surprised to receive statements & breakdown of charges today. Just over a week since sending my Data Protection Act letter!!
I've used the spreadsheet & calculated my charges to be £3413.50 excluding interest which I'm leaving out.
I'm stuck at work this afternoon & have only limited time to scan the threads.
Can someone please tell me where to send the preliminary letter to as I'd like to get it in the post this afternoon? |

| | Classic Account Customer | Re: KAZZAW v LLOYDS TSB Blimey that was quick!!
Preliminary request sent by recorded delivery on Wednesday (17/5).
Today (20/5) received standard reply from David Just.
I can see how someone without the support of this website could just give up at this stage. Thanks for being there folks!!
Now I have to find the patience to wait till 31st May to send my LBA letter!!
It's very tempting to send it now but I am determined to take the advice given to others & show the judge I have been fair.
Wish First Direct would send my statements etc so I can get my teeth into that claim.
Oh well! I'll have to do the housework instead!!

Good luck with it all ! |
