| | Basic Account Customer | Excessive Charges * * WON * * Hi All,
Having just discovered this site via Martins Money Saving - I have decided to do something about the excessive charges I am constantly being given by Lloyds TSB (on an almost monthly basis for the past 6 years).
I didn't realise what my rights were and that I could do something about this until I came to this site - I have spent all afternoon reading through everything (when I should be working) - the support and information is immense, thank you!
I have just emailed my first letter to them - using the template I found in the Library here.
I will also be recommending all of these steps to my partner as he has been charged extortionate amounts by halifax for years and years - very frustrating but if he can claim his money back then...woooppeee!
Will keep you updated.

| | Basic Account Customer | Hello,
I emailed contact.us@LloydsTSB.co.u k and marked the “subject” as Private & Confidential” as I guess it’s the best place to start. I will also be forwarding a copy to their Head Office of Complaints in Birmingham if I don’t at least get an acknowledgment within a week.
On another note, I have just realised via my online account with Lloyds that there is a search feature within the Statements section which allows you to search all “fees and charges” applied to your account from 2002 - a good place to start to get an idea of how much money they have taken from you.
Good luck, |

| | Basic Account Customer | Wow!!! I have a reply already! (how quick?! ) Thank you for the e-mail, which has been passed to this office by the On-line Helpdesk.
I am sorry to learn that you are unhappy over the level of charges you have incurred on your Lloyds TSB accounts.
Under the circumstances, your e-mail has been passed on to the Manager of the Complaints Unit within Customer Care. I have asked that he notes your comments and issues raised and that a response is sent to you at the earliest opportunity.
Regards
Keith Boden

You accepted these terms when you opened your account and when you agreed your overdraft. We did not agree to pay your account in excess of the amount agreed without charges being made.
| Excellent - they have conceded that the charge is for a breach of contract.
The money is in the bag (no pun intended).

| | Basic Account Customer | Received my statements yesterday - sent letter on the 8th.
Going through them today and tomorrow but after a quick scan through they seem to owe me more than I initially thought - hurrah to me! |

The money is in the bag (no pun intended). | Sorry but I think that the correct reading of this is that they did not agree to pay in excess of the amount agreed without charging for it.
