Question No Reply To Data Protection Act Request

I sent my Data Protection Act request to my branch Moorgate on 22/3/06, no reply as yet & the cheque I enclosed has not been cashed. Should I chase them up now?

This is where a quick phone call is warranted, I find.

Tell them you sent it, and when, and where. Tell them it is deemed received 2 days after sending. If they say they can't find it, tell them it's their problem, and that the clock is ticking.
Remember they would be merciless if the dog or the baby had eaten or hidden your post and you'd missed payment because of it. You don't owe them any kindness. Be firm and don't take waffle for an answer.
If you must, you might want to offer to pay the £10 over the phone, make sure they then immediately put a stop on the "lost" cheque. Record the conversation if possible. Point out that the time limit of your letter still stands, though.

Take control. Keep control.

Just realised that I sent my request on 27 March. Received statements today in a half ripped open package. Not happy, they could've made an effort to ensure that it was properly packaged.

Question Re: No Reply To Data Protection Act Request

A friend of mine who also knows of this site emailed me a copy of 1st letter template, it does not quote any amounts and just requests a refund of all the relevant charges that have been applied to the account in the last 6 years. It says that if they do not settle then a Data Protection Act request for a list all charges over the last 6 years. Do you think it's safe to send it now?

NO .. if she doesn't know the charges she should send a DPDR .Also she needs to ask for manual intervention notes .If people are going to do this they need to do it right and follow the right steps.
