Default How to know if u have a CCJ?

I lived abroad for years with an unresolved small debt with NatWest. They wanted to force a loan on me to pay off the debt, which I queried twice; they never replied. I understand that the debt may be statute barred but ONLY if I DON'T have a CJJ summons.

1. How would I know if I have been issued a CJJ if (after the bank not replying to my letters) I have moved and not informed them of my whereabout? Is there a register / record to check online?

2. Does it count against me if I have not informed them of my new address?

Thanks for any help in advance!

hi,

get a copy of your credit file from Experian & Equifax that will tell you if you have any CCJ's or any Defaults on your credit file.

The debt is only statute barred after 6 years how long ago was this debt.

Yes, banks subscribe to the GAIN (Gone Away Information Network) where they will happily report you for changing address without informing them.

Your credit file will contain details of any GAIN entries along with CCJ's

Cheers Nanna, the debt was from 2002, well before but 2002 was the last correspondence (from me, no reply from the bank) was from 2002. I am mainly concerned with having a CJJ without knowing it which can prevent my debt from being statute barred.

I found that I can see whether there is a CJJ against me but only in relation to a specified address. Is this only an address in the UK?

If I am not living in the UK - the bank knew I had left my last UK place for China - then I don't know how they can address a CJJ to me in the UK knowing I am not there.

The questions boil down to:

1. CAN A CJJ BE ISSUED TO AN ADDRESS OUTSIDE THE UK?

2. CAN A CJJ BE ISSUED TO A PREVIOUS ADDRESS IN THE UK IF THE BANK HAS ALREADY BEEN INFORMED THAT YOU'RE NOT THERE?

Grateful for any clarity ...
