Can the doctor postpone your court date?

Hi in connection with my previous thread re being taken to court for money I don't believe I owe - I am currently not working and in receipt of income support due to a nervous/anxiety disorder - I am unable to get legal aid representation because the claim coem under business claim - is there any way the doctor can help me - although I do think I can get enough evidence to win the case - (that is if I'm allowed extra time to gather my evidence) the thought of going in to court by myself and talking to - presumably my cliamants solcitor and the judge and whoever else is terrifying - I know that the judge is not scary and everythin but jsut talking to a small group of friends is hard right now I know I will probably get a panic attack etc. Is there anything that can be done? thanks

Sickness and injury are ways to get out of going to court so long as there is a doctor's signature to corroborate said sickness or injury. In some cases, you do not have to be the person who is sick. Illness of a child or elder relative you care for can also result in a continuance (with proper doctor documentation).

thanks very much - could you explain continuence? does that mean the case is put on hold? for instance I have filed part of my defence but not all of it - would the part i've so far put in be kept to a later date - how does it work? thanks
