Cool Intelligent (Yeah rite...) Finance

Hi all,

I'm a newbie that found this site via Martin Lewis' site.

Thought i'd phone I.F. cos i was charged £25 for being ONE day late with my credit card payment in January.

The bloke i spoke to offered me 50% without batting an eyelid, but if i didn't accept it, the full £25 would stand. I said i wanted full refund cos its not legally enforceable, and asked if he could send me a breakdown of what exactly the £25 was made up of, seeing as its all automated anyway.

He said he'd put it in the post, so i'm waiting to see what fairy story they come up with...

Barclays owe me about £200 on my personal account and my boss has paid £5200 to NatWest in bounced cheque/DD fees since Jluy 2004...

I'm telling all my friends about these unfair fees, but half of them don't believe me that Joe Public can actually get this money back...

Keep the Faith, Comrades
(Actually, don't keep it, SPREAD IT!!!)

I'll be fascinated as will others to see, if anything, what they send back to you!

If you do get something back that goes even part way to attempting to justify their charges be sure to let BF or Dave have a scan of the letter. The reality is that you will simply get a standard Customer Service letter that refers you to their terms and conditions and the contract that you signed.

Re: Intelligent (Yeah rite...) Finance

Stil nothing from I.F...

Phoned them this morning and was told to give it another week cos the request is sent to a particular department, and they could take a week to send the info out...

It's only £25 i'm querying, but how they handle this small amount will help me understand how obstructive other banks might be when i try to get refunds from them...

Next thing is to work out how my scanner works so i can get their reply on this site...

They almost certainly will not give you a breakdown - they didn't give the Treasury Select Committee a breakdown when asked, so I think the chap was just answering in the way you wanted to get you off the phone.

Pathetic really.
