Re: Direct Line - break-in & theft I think you are on to a loser over this - most policies specifically exclude valuable items or personal posessions unless they are locked in the boot or glovebox, or hidden away - Also most Comp car policies have a limit of £100 on personal posessions - The only way it would be covered in full under your car policy is if it was a factory fitted type. You could try a claim under your household personal posessions, but they may exclude as it was left on view..
My sis recently had a burglary, and her tomtom 910 satnav was on the desk plugged into the pc for updating, they took it, and also took her car from the garage, she had murder getting paid for the satnav as the car and house insurers just kept saying the other was liable...
