Default Insurers cant get hold of ex employer

My husband was made redundant in early August. We had to wait 30 days before the Protection policy kicked in. That took us to mid September 2006. We are still waiting for a decision from the insurers as they say they cant get hold of the ex employer for answers to some queries surrounding the redundancy. I have threatened them with reporting them to the FSO but know from past experience with the FSO that in itself is virtually a waste of time. Does anyone have any ideas of how to sort these people out?

Write to them saying that you have given them all relevant information, and that you expect them to comply with their side of the contract and that the delay is not acceptable. Tell them that if it turns out that the information you gave them was incorrect, you understand that they can ask you to repay the money, so fail to see why they can not start the payment anyway. Tell them that you have paid the money in good faith and do not want further delays with your claim. Tell them that they have 14 days or you'll start a complaint with the Ombudsman.
